Brain Health, Opera, and Fall Flavors - AgingWell October 2024

So, is there anything that we could be doing TODAY to reduce our risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease? Attendees of October’s AgingWell will hear from Laura Baker, PhD., Professor of Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Neurology, and Social Sciences and Health Policy; Associate Director, Wake Forest Alzheimer’s Disease Center, Wake Forest School of Medicine on practical steps we ALL can be taking to better protect our memory and brain health. Dr. Baker will be sharing the lessons learned from the latest international study of which Wake Forest was a leading site.

Since Winston-Salem is known as the “City of Arts and Innovation” it should come as no surprise that our community is rich in a wide array of arts programs with none more exciting that the Piedmont Opera Company. With a rich history spanning 48 seasons, they have brought a diverse selection of productions to our community and have introduced generations to the world of opera. James Allbritten, Artistic Director for Piedmont Opera will share some of the rich history of the company as well as give a preview of what’s to come!

Join us as Chef Liam Burkett demonstrates some of the restaurants newest creations from their new Fall Menu! Chef Burkett will walk us through how to create their signature Streusel Waffle and their Sweet Potato & Chorizo Hash
and Julie Ochoa, the restaurants Front Service Lead, will show us how to create their delicious
Fall Mimosa.
