1st Marine Division Band Members Reinforce 'Every Marine a Rifleman'

Marines serving with the 1st Marine Division Band reflect on their roles as rifleman while deployed to Afghanistan. They have since returned and rehearse for upcoming performances at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

When I went to Iraq, we deployed with the 3rd MAW band.... when we got there, they were immediately sent to Fallujah to do a RETIREMENT CEREMONY for some Sgt Major... Yeah, I know... WTF? A RETIREMENT CEREMONY IN COMBAT?!?! well... we heard later that while they were there for those 3 days they almost got blown the f@*k up because of a serious mortar attack.... Sometimes the Corps and those damned Sgt Majors defy logic. Like that Al Asad Airbase with 38-40 do nothing Sgt Majors that only...

i currently attend the Navy school of Music. a Friend of mine graduated in November and 2 weeks later was deployed to Afghanistan. also one of my instructors was in the front lines during the battle of Fallujah. my MGYSGT was a DI and my CO was a field artillery operator. I wonder what the corps has in store for me and my band.
