Note: We are not able to recover any funds, and many companies that pretend to offer services like this are scams themselves.

I was scammed through Facebook dating site.. I eventually figured out that I was being scammed and following a fake profile after I bought a gift card for video game then asked to send the code so that the beautiful women in the fake profile could set the game up by the time I got there to occupy her children. I sent the code but the wrong code by accident the fake profile person was getting upset. At that point I had not had any phone conversation. So I ask for phone conversation they said they couldn't call problems with the phone so as I was driving to the address of the fake profile person as I arrived I ask them what color was the car in the drive way . They stopped communicating. I didn't lose my money but I learned my lesson. If someone doesn't want to talk over the phone something is wrong.

Just know that these scammers have no sympathy at all, even if you tell them you’re dying and have the last 300 dollars for medication, they will take it. You Americans need to have a change of mindset about these scammers, they know you’re emotional and they take advantage, you need to see them as the vilest people on the planet, they don’t care about you. It’s hard truth but you need to be tough to protect yourselves. All the best.

Im 5000 dollars in debt and in desperate need of money. I started searching for loans and I gotta call from a guy who said he wants to help, and to trust him. We talked on the phone for days, and he eventually asked me to buy a gift card and load my last 300 on to it. I went to go buy one, and a lady stopped me from buying it and she told me NOT TO DO IT. ITS A SCAM! I didn't buy it, came home and stumbled on this video. Im so glad I didn't buy it. Thanks for the info, but im still broke an desperate. I guess my only option is wait on God, and hope for the best. Thanks again for the info

I’m so upset my mother just got scammed for $900 over a supposed xfinity offer being told to buy eBay gift cards. When I asked why she kept going out returning reading numbers she confessed and by then it was to late. The perfect crime and nothing; absolutely nothing I can find that we can do to get some money back. I reported it to FTC and eBay and told her to not sweat it take it as experience but never ever give anyone info like this.

I am a manager at a grocery store and have delt with these scams many times. Recently I have noticed that the victims are not willing to admit that someone has called them and told them to purchase the cards. Im not sure if the scammers are threatening the victims in some way or telling them not to tell the store clerks because the purchase will be denied and they won’t get their “refund” or whatever. Do you have any idea what the scammers are telling the victims to keep the victims from telling the cashiers that they are being told to buy them?

I always block those people. 🙄 It always starts the same way. They start off the conversation usually in my Instagram dms. They will ask me if I have Hangouts or WhatsApp. They start to get to know me and flirt with me and then ask for shit. Like they think that will work on me. I'm not stupid.

Im in the UK. For my job i see a lot of fraud. One customer I had told me that he received a message via WhatsApp from who he thought was his boss (but was in fact a fraudster). This 'boss' asked him to buy some gift cards at £200 per card. He did so and gave out the redeem codes and then the boss asked for more to be bought. This customer did not stop to think why his boss was wanting him to buy so many gift cards but he kept doing it when asked. When it was all over he had bought and given out £3000 worth. If he had not given out the redeem codes he could have seen about getting a refund from either the store he bought them from or for the main card retailers. As it was with the codes being redeemed there was nothing we could do for him and he lost the full £3000. As i say to customers stop and think about what they are being asked to do. Would that person ask you to do that? Best thing to do is to actually call the person you think is messaging you to confirm it is actually them.

I love when these people do get busted and end up in prison and they won't like what's waiting for them in the after life.

There's an exchange market for Nigerian currency (naira) in that part of the world for the gift card(s), as implied in the video. Bitcoin is also requested for anonymity
