Smart, Peugeot, Skoda and Renault are very famous brands in Europe, or at least in Germany. I'm wondering why Americans seem to not know them.

It just shows how little Americans know about the rest of the world.

So old fashioned the idea that a big car is better! (Typically American, though) Many Europeans have smaller cars for smaller streets with smaller parking spaces, they are much cheaper, lower taxed and eco-friendly.

Your pronouciation of foreign car brands had me in fits. Especially the French brands.

The pronunciations of both the countries and cars, were epic 😂

So weird to see that people in the US have never heard some of the most historic brands in Europe (and worldwide...) I mean... FIAT is 124 yo, SKODA is 125, SEAT 73 and PEUGEOT 127, which makes this brand the world's oldest automaker still in operation...!!

Makes you feel people in US are kind of... isolated... in a parallel world, having though the impression of openness and freedom.

I am Portuguese but I use the Italian´s Fiat Panda, a great car both for city and road. PS: Smaller cars need less fuel and are easy to park, a perk in a country that as a lot of old cities and streets like mine.

Dacia (pronounced da-chia) are built in Romania in a modern factory owned by Renault (pronounced Wreno). In some countries they are badged as Renault and in others as Dacia which was an original Romanian manufacturer. They were originally sold as cheaper utilitarian cars but, these days, they are comfortable, well equipped, very reliable and competitively priced.

Im guessing this is an older list. Ukrain probably drives more captured Russian tanks than Kias nowadays.

I am a woman and not interested in cars, but I know all those brands ;)

Never let it be said that Americans are insular! 😂 I'm not sure what's worse, not knowing the names of actual countries or not being aware of some of the biggest manufacturers in the world.

What struck me was that he had difficulty pronouncing the names of some of the countries, I can understand the cars he may never have seen them before but he usually comes across as a pretty well educated guy ( for an American) and yet some of the country’s trough him, go figure as they say😊

I'm actually more shocked that apparently half of the biggest car brands in the world aren't known at all in the USA. I knew all of those brands except maybe 2 or 3 (like the Iran one??). But Honda, Renault, Peugeot... these are big ass brands. Maybe not as big as VW but still pretty big.

Dacia is a Romaninan Car Brand, that belongs to the French Renault. They are good cars, in the cheaper segment. I have one. 10 years, and never have had a problem. Lada is an Russian brand, and Skoda belongs to VW, and is a Czech car.

Dacia is a Romanian car brand owned by Renaut(France) that sells affordable cars on the 14.000$ to 20.000$ price range, depending on model and extras.
I just bought a brand new Dacia Sandero 65hp with no extras for around 14.000$! It is the text book deffinition of "just enough, nothing more".

That reaction was more of an insight on American education than anything else. Absolutely shocking.

Vauxhall is Opel😉, Lada is an old Russian carbrand. My dad had several and they looked like square tins, but never had problems...

Didn't know all the models, but most of the brands Was surprised you don't know peugeot or renault...

VW is Volkwagen pronounced " folksvagen" meaning peoples wagon - German. Peugeot is French and is pronounced " perjow" with a soft j. Your pronunciations had me in stitches!

Also, btw, Skoda is a part of the VW group so they are kind of the "budget sisters" of vw cars.
French cars have not really been present in the US in a long time so no wonder you don't know things like Peugot or Renault if you don't follow any sort of international motorsports at least.

Smart fortwo's are sold in the US tho, so you maybe should have known about them.

Btw, the Chevy T series is a chevy badged Izuzu D-Max and is more size comparable to a Hilux/Tacoma. quite a bit smaller than a F150
