In 1991 I was in 1st grade. I broke my leg on the playground and was out of school for a few weeks. I can vividly remember sitting on my couch, leg up drinking a Capri Sun and me listening to this album over and over and over on our giant glass stereo. This album is one of my all time favorite and every time I hear this song or any other from this album it brings me nothing but joy, happiness and leaves me with the most nostalgic and euphoric feelings. Thank you Tom Petty. You are dearly missed.

When my daughter was 9-years-old, she chose this song to use for her first figure skating competition routine. She had it all planned out. She would skate to Tom Petty’s Free Fallin’ and wanted a sky blue dress. I am a proud mama for so many reasons but her choosing this song always fills my heart.

The news of his death was earth-shattering, and time stood still the entire day. I still miss him so much. How did a song that make me so happy in middle school, now make me cry my eyes out? At least we all still have the wonderful memories of him❤️
