They say falling in love, doesn't cost a thing. But falling in love with a narcissist can cost you everything.

Been alone five years and I'm so comfortable. No one belittling me, berating me, making fun of me, it's so peaceful.

A narcissist not only breaks your heart. They break your spirit, that's why it takes so long to heal.

4 years out and I'm just now starting to realize just HOW MUCH he took from me... that I allowed... music writing art interests attitudes feelings to cry exercise health my teeth my entire small social circle. People... it's taken me FOUR YEARS to get to this point! Sometimes healing is slower than you want or expect and it's totally okay!!!❤

My wife decided for the second time in the past eight months that she deserved to see the world. She has been gone three months and a month in I finally shut off her social media posts and within a couple of weeks I no longer felt anxious, the headaches disappeared, the stomach aches were gone and all three of my grown children came home for two weeks because she wasn't home. Good things happen when a Narcissist is gone.

Solitude was the only safe place when I got out of my old relationship. Thank you for validating this. People don't understand why I'd prefer to be alone in bed!

Alone with Nature, a dog, a good book and a glass of iced tea, perfect. People need not apply.

I am living life on my terms, without permission no criticism, no questions, no justifications...just peace and quiet I AM me, alone, on my terms.

When I’m alone I am with someone who I can trust more than anyone else.

Another thing that I don’t think gets enough attention? Healing from narcissistic abuse, and going down that healing path changes who YOU are as a person. And when you fundamentally change, you see the people around you differently as well. So while you may have the same family and the same social circles as you had before? I guarantee that you will see them differently. And some of them you just won’t want to be close to anymore. That’s been my experience anyway🤷🏻‍♀️😢😑

It’s been nearly 4 yrs since separating from a 37 yr marriage to a narc and I STILL feel like I need a year of solitude to rest and heal. I crave peace and quiet daily.

Thank you Dr Ramani for VALIDATING our need to have time alone, after being with people who thrive on INVALIDATING us.

I can not imagine my healing journey without being able to spend a lot of time alone. Solitude and silence were life-saving for me.

Thank you for explaining this process! I was starting to think something was wrong with me for wanting to be alone 90% of the time. I feel so much more at peace with my dogs, cat, and plants at home. I try to avoid going out in the world too much because I live in a crowded metropolitan area and I can't handle the road rage, cranky people, and negative energy. It's exhausting.

I'm 56, never married. I've always enjoyed having space and never minded being alone, even though I was a very social creature. It's been 3 yrs since my ex-narc betrayed me right when the pandemic hit; the breakup nearly destroyed me. I was also laid off from my job the same week. I was instantly thrown into solitude and now I actually crave it! I love the peace & freedom. I love flying solo! Spread your wings, my friends. 🐦

This is Exactly what I’m going through now. I left the narcissist and relocated. Now, after 16 months I’m beginning to look for community and find it lacking. These are Nice long married people who are clueless about experiences such as mine. I feel very alien. So I’m continuing to open to my music and art, and the companionship of my dog, and zoom with old friends.

Radical acceptance is not only about accepting the Narc for who they are but also its about accepting that healing from such relationships is such an immense challenge and requires your all.
