Positioning combined with the application of a counterforce can really increase the depth of your stroke, it can offer stability to the limb you are working on thus allowing for more creative strokes.

You know you are being shut out when a client contracts their muscles to ‘help’ you, or to protect themselves. This often happens when they feel that the work you are doing is not controlled, this will also decrease the sensitivity of your touch and your ability to sink into the tissue as deep as your client would like or need.

I frequently add a little bit of distraction (pulling) techniques into the movement, this creates a sense of lengthening and stretch that feels good.

At this point you might want to add a bit of vibration, shaking into the mix, but if you feel a clunking sound in your hands this is not a movement for them as they lack stability in their joint(s).

If you missed Part 1, it’s available in my Massage Mondays Library, details below 👇

Don’t forget! This video is available for one week only!
