The official music video for Lainey Wilson's "Things A Man Oughta Know" featured on her album 'SAYIN' WHAT I'M THINKIN'.

Keep up with Lainey:

LYRICS:
I can hook a trailer on a two inch hitch
I can shoot a shotgun I can catch a fish
I can change a tire on the side of a road
Yeah I know a few things a man oughta know

CHORUS
How to know when it’s love
How to stay when it’s tough
How to know you’re messing up a good thing
And how to fix it fore it’s too late
And yea I know a boy
Who gave up and got it wrong
If you really love a woman you don’t let her go
Yeah I know few things a man oughta know

If I can’t have it I can do without
I can hang a picture same as I can take it down
And how to keep it hidden when a heart gets broke
Yeah, I know a few things a man oughta know

REPEAT CHORUS

How to know when it’s love
How to stay when it’s tough
How to chase forever down a driveway
How to never let it get there in the first place
And yea I know a boy
Who gave up and got it wrong
If you really love a woman you don’t let her go
Yeah I know few things a man oughta know
Yeah I know few things a man oughta know

This song resonates with me, maybe more differently than others' perspectives. I'm have been in a relationship for 8 yrs now and it took me this long to realize he is a narcissist. You know the emotional abuse is there.

I can do all of these things and more as sweet Lainey has said but yet I'm told I'm worthless and don't know jack sh!t. I've bitten my tongue for a long time. Now I have finally spoken up and I guess I'm still wrong. The fool doesn't appreciate me for all the times I've been there for him, taken care of him.
This song has given me a bit of strength to find that courage to leave. Remember I'm nothing without him. I used to be a strong person but he broke me down to where I only feel insecurities. I wanna be happy. I don't want to live in this misery for someone who only cares about himself. I've became an enabler, it's hard to break from it once you've been there for as long as I have.

Please pray for me to find the courage. I want to be free....

*Edit* 08/16/24.... I left him in Oct 2023. It was the best decision I made. I'm so much happier.

This song brigs me to my knees. I did not serve in any of the services. I have 17 people in 3 generations of my family who have. 1 did 30 years in service. Another between active duty and air national guard she did 41years and 8 months. My family is every color in the rainbow. We lost one when he came home from the the burden he cam home with. People forget that as a nation the US is very young. Yes we have made mistakes along the way. Show me another country that hasn't made them you can't. No system is perfect. We stood up and punched back hard after 9/11 . We had to or far worse would have been coming our way. So many think that they are victims. Life isn't fair. My papa always told me when I said something wasn't fair. My girl the only fair in this life is the county fair. We need to remember our psst or we are destined to repeat it. Scars are the metals we are given for a life well lived. We need to find our strength and take a hold of it.

I’ve listened to this song so many times. It affects me deeply as I try and figure it out. I feel like, I know I could have been that guy. When you have no work and get an eviction letter, you think of your wife, your kids, and how to keep them off the street. When you do that you realize that there really isn’t much you won’t do for them.
I understand perfectly what this guy was doing, and maybe why she knows the things a man oughta know. He’s not there anymore, did something wrong and now he’s gone, so it’s on her to do it all now. That’s how this song hits me.
Could be different for others, but it’s so well done, an all time favorite for sure

Love her.!.!.! 💞❤️ She can do no wrong no way no how.!.!.! She could cover any of Lee Ann Womack songs and knock them out of the park.!.!.! I Hope You dance and a little past Little Rock would be the ones I would first love to hear.
I actually thought when I read this title for the first time that this was Leanne's "He Ought To Know That By Now"! And then I remembered the title right and couldn't wait to listen for similarities. I am pleasantly surprised it has all its own merits just a great song. As a previous comment stated she is on her way to a great future.!.!.!

My brother sent me this song, he told me it reminds him of me. I do know a few things a man ought to know. But I couldn't save my marriage, I did try, but it doesn't work when there's a third person involved. I still can use a shot gun and catch a fish, fix my roof, hitch a trailer and other things. I could never chase after whats leaving the driveway.

As a man "was" married(to the "Love of my Life") for 10 + years and just out of "nowhere" as I was working in the garage fixing things she comes out and says, "(I DON"T NEED YOU NO MORE and locks all the doors(we lived in the country are doors was "NEVER" locked). Still this day trying to grasp "anything" on to that and it's been 10years. this song makes me feel better about myself. (I am a jack of all trades but, a master of none(all you young ones I can do "ANYTHING". IF not it's not going to take me long to "figure" it out). I pray every knight she is "happy"!

Y'all need to quit saying she's a mix of this country singer and that one.

She's Lainey Wilson.

The love of my life and my daughters mother left me because of my addiction issues. Now 17 days sober and doing what I have to do to get my family back. Love this song

“How to chase forever down a driveway.”
“How to never let it get there in the first place.”
That was a punch to the gut. This song hits hard when you really listen to it. Beautiful song!

The women of country are having somewhat of a Renaissance right now and I can't more giddy about what's to come! Thank you for reminding us the importance of going back to the roots.
