2025 - The Year of the PS5

Insider NateTheHate, who has a pretty good reputation, said in a recent podcast that PS5 is primed to have a “stong” 2025, with PlayStation Studios all quietly cooking. He’s of the view that next year might be PS5’s best year in this entire generation and he’s fairly confident that players will hear more from Sony in fall 2024.

NateTheHate shared these views nearly two weeks ago, but they’re particularly noteworthy now because Sony recently announced its financial results for FY2024, during which it acknowledged a lack of “tentpole” games. In the same earnings call, Sony promised that PlayStation Studios will aim to “consistently and continuously release hit titles” following a restructuring exercise earlier this year.

Will we finally see something from studios like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studio, Sucker Punch Productions, and Insomniac Games in 2025? We sure hope so!

PS5 Adds User Reviews

It looks like PlayStation is introducing user reviews on the PS Store.

In a thread entitled "When did PlayStation start allowing written reviews?", an eagle-eyed PS5 owner noted on the PlayStation subreddit that the company was inviting user reviews for a select number of games.

Whilst fans have long been able to rate games from zero to five stars out of five, this is the first time players have been invited to leave a written review.

I only buy physical copies of games 6 months after the release so they are half price. Games in Europe are 80 Euros which in the US is $87

The fact John Carpenter is involved is great. I want to play that. It would be great if you could play multiple characters throughout the levels including Michael Meyers.

Love how he claims they stole the review system from steam. But the review system he shows a screenshot of literally looks like an almost exact copy and paste of the one they have over on Xbox.😂 even the way he explained it sounds exactly like what they have on Xbox

If I didn't already have a PS5 Slim, the upcoming release of Wreckfest 2 (whenever that will be) would be reason enough for me to purchase a PS5 lol. The fact that you can play all your PS4 games on the PS5 along with PS5 games running at 60FPS and faster load times were enough reasons for me back in November of last year though.👍

You are right about off-season progression, but also you have to count physical skill progression not just overall as the players spend points on that as well

The Halloween developers need to take notes from the Friday the 13th game. Use the different types of Michael like they did with Jason. Don’t be afraid to show gore, implement iconic kill scenes from the movies into the game like they did with Friday the 13th…..
What I’m trying to say is copy and paste Friday the 13th game and SLAP Halloween across it and call it a day.
