I like both speakers though they gave different musical characters. If I have to choose one in this setting would be elac. I think it would be easier to listen to it for hours without fatigue.

Like most people I was surprised when I heard this video. The opportunity came up where I now have KEF Reference (205) and a higher end ELAC (607 X-Jet) with the coaxial driver from the same era (2005). The KEF is great and provides hours of enjoyable listening but the ELAC outperforms it in all aspects. Don't judge ELAC from pictures and internet videos, the good models are rock solid performers.

P.S. The sound picture of the KEF R700 is less clear and less contrasting. Therefore, it may be more comfortable for long-term listening. I have two rooms and I want both pairs of these speakers :-)

Avez-vous en écoute les Elac 244.3 ? Je trouve les Elac intéressantes dans leur approche musicale. Il y a une volonté de retranscrire l'enregistrement avec application et réalisme. Rien ne reste dans l'ombre, on dirait qu'elles sont survoltées et enthousiastes. Kef par contre j'étais fan il y a longtemps. Le dernier modèle qui me plaisait beaucoup était la 104.2, ça date maintenant. Bref, je suis en possession d'un intégré hybride Vincent, avec les Elac je pense que ces deux personnalités réunies devraient fournir un résultat très satisfaisant. Du moins en rapport avec mon budget...

My impression (listening through a DAC to my Sansui au666, running Rega Ara speakers) is that the Elacs portray a more solid, robust image than the Kefs, and seem to have more solid musical placement . The Kefs sound more open and airy, and have a more spacious sound, albeit perhaps a little bit vague in musical placement, by comparison to the Elacs (almost like an opaque vs transparent sound stage). It appears to me as though the Kefs have a more articulate and more forward midrange than the Elacs, and likely more of a 3D sound. I think they are probably both very good speakers in real life, but they just offer different perspectives.

I really like these comparison videos, even though they have their limitations being on YouTube.

Elac sounds have clear sounds then the Kef loudspeaker, but if you like speaker who sounds warm, then you must take the Kef loudspeaker

From what audio is available and using some KRK studio monitors: the clear favourite of mine are the Kefs. The instruments just burst out of those speakers. The Elacs don't come close. However, I'm not listening to them in the flesh...

There are very opposite opinions about which speaker is best.
I think such a comparison never can be fair because of following reasons:

1: the compared speakers need to be exactly at the same place which is not possible in this case.

2: You have to be there live to hear the real difference

3: much is depending on the recording, other song with other recording can make a very different result.

Elac is more clear, wider / bigger soundstage

Elac too loud and distorting the recording. KEF much cleaner, you can hear the bass strings give that nice fretboard ring and 'twak', easy win!
