Yeah, cats are something else. I can't believe the amount of coverage and attention they get on YouTube.

True story:

I recall as a child, my cat leaving a dead pigeon on our front porch on Thanksgiving day!

Cats are more aware than we even imagine. They make the best pets. 🐱

tldr im talking (more like rambling) about my cat theo!

I adopted my first cat, Theo (former stray), in august. I hadn't moved into my new apartment yet, so he stayed with a friend of mine while I finalized things. on the first night of being in my new apartment, Theo slept in bed with me. shortly after, I discovered that I have a mild cat allergy, but the symptoms that night were severe. (side note, the allergies do still persist but they are much more tolerable with the help of some Benadryl. I can be around him much longer without ym allergies flaring up now). I couldn't stay in my apartment the following day. I stressed over it so badly because I knew I wouldn't be able to keep him while my allergies were this violent, so he stayed with a friend of mine for about a month. after that time passed, and I had some time to get things situated, I brought him back home. things were okay at first, but soon there were problems. being a former stray, he did enjoy being outside. he would claw at the carpet (and still does just.a little bit), my couch, the curtains, and even broke the blinds trying to get outside. ive struggled a lot dealing with his behavioral issues, and at some point considered going through with surrendering him to someone that could better take care of him. I was overwhelmed, never having had taken care of my own pet by myself before. I talked with some friends about what I should do, and they told me that having a pet requires a lot of patience. they explained to me that my relationship with my cat may not look like other's on social media, and that I was pushing these expectations onto a cat that hardly even knew me.

so from October to now, Theo and I have been bonding more and more every day. last night was the first time he slept in my room with me in weeks, and he didn't ask to be let outside until later on yesterday evening, around 7pm. ive noticed that no matter where I go, he will follow me. he peeks into the bathroom while im in the shower to make sure I'm okay. he leads me to his favorite spot to go to while he's outside (the neighbor's shed). the #1 thing that ive learned while having a cat is that It takes a lot for them to build that bond with you. I rly do love this little cat (even though he pisses me off sometimes)
