Boris Johnson thinks the Tories could have averted July’s disastrous general election performance by keeping him in power.

The former prime minister stood down in 2022 after being hit with a spate of resignations by top Cabinet officials in response to a series of scandals and a no confidence vote.

Speaking to Camilla Tominey on GB News, Johnson lamented Sunak’s “mistake” and insisted the party would have fared significantly better had they not turned on him.

Never thought I'd say it but I would rather Boris back as PM than Sleazÿ Starmer.

Loved it when Boris said that the number of boat crossings fell off drastically during the Covid lockdowns, before Camilla reminded him that it was due to the borders being closed.

Boris is a legend, for all his faults.

I like Johnson as a personality, BUT, why did he allow mass migration when the people voted for the opposite? His premiership was a massive missed opportunity. He failed!

She constantly interrupted him. So annoying. Let him speak woman!

I would rather have Boris than 2 tier, Free Gear, Granny Freezer, Sausage Freer, No Ideal Keir.
Boris loves Britain and it's people, where as Starmer hates Britain and it's people.

His complacency lead to Starmer. He could have done so much good, he was given every chance, but he squandered all the trust that was put in him. His joke’s won’t paper over such enormous failure.

Love or loathe him, the electorate should have had the right to vote him in or out, not parliament or the media.

Like Camilla but she needs to not interrupt when the person is in mid- sentence.

If only she’d stop interrupting him and putting in the verbal jabs, this interview would have been very interesting. His retrospective opinions are why I wanted to listen, not hers.

Entertaining guy but he ruined the country with his botched brexit. Should never been anywhere near the Prime Minister job

Anybody would think he was still PM the way she's grilling him. Dear God, I was looking forward to this, her squeaky voice spoiled it!

I could not finish the whole interview. The amount of times he has mentioned his book is so over the top.

Boris is such a likeable person when he isn’t PM, although to be fair to him, he had the toughest premiership since WW2. I think he would have done a much better job if he was PM in more standard circumstances.

I do so wish Camilla would listen more to her invited guest, who we are trying to listen to. Then continually, interrupt and over speak! I find it very frustrating! Judging by Starmer’s performance to date, Everyone, should know, to run a country and be the Prime Minister of a country. Takes huge intelligence, diplomacy, and a juggling act of suburb ability. The media, don’t seem to understand, they started to crucify Richi on day one too. I think he was doing a good job, and needed more time. The media have a lot to answer for. Camilla STOP! Interrupting!
