I've had several people ask what I think of the X-H1 and if I'll switch to using Fuji for video now that they are getting more serious about it. The TL;DW is that I really wish I could switch to using Fuji exclusively (that would really simplify things), were it not for two critical things.

Came for the X-H1 discussion, stayed for the incredible photography! Killer shots, my friend! This was the best way to go about discussing new gear. The added value by being out and capturing great images as opposed to just sitting in a room discussing specs. and gear philosophy is astronomical. This was the perfect example of combing the passion of photography (why we all do this in the first place) with a dash of gear/geek talk. I love it!

Holy crap these are one the best landscape photos that I've seen, and to think that you made them in a span of minutes is incredibly buggling!

Will you share the preset that you used in this video please?

Iv been a life long Nikon user and sold my d500, 7100 for a pair of xt2's it takes me back 35 or so years to fm and fe feel wise, im enjoying my photography again. Im not a menu or video driven photographer but feel the xh1 is for that market

I switched from the Canon system to the Fuji system primarily because of the size. There is no way I'm going back to a larger camera. My X-T2/X-T1/X100F combo does everything I want and need.

Damn these are some fantastic images! I need to go on a photo walk with you!
I like the X-H1 for many reasons. I have the X-T20, so it would be a pretty big size and weight difference, but I really do think I'd like it in the hand. The X-T20 isn't bad and the images are amazing and I like the size, but I feel like it's missing a lot in the ergonomics department. I won't be upgrading because of price vs image quality, since I'll be getting essentially the same quality out of it. But I love the new video features and the IBIS. Buuuut it's not good enough for me to salivate just yet.

Some valid points you make there. The IS motors can be a bit loud when shooting video as well. Not my favorite but can be solved by using an off camera mic. Like you, I'm not crazy about the added size/weight but I'm in love with the added video features. Trade offs I guess.

I’m with ya Andrew for another reason though. I got into the fuji line because of the analog layout. With the X-H1 removing the exposure comp dial and adding a lcd screen it definitely detracts from that old school experience.

I find shooting video with Fuji feels incomplete and forced. Unlike the gh5 / gh5s where it’s just so natural (even if autofocus sucks) The Fuji lenses are amazing for photo but not when it comes to video AF, zooming and IS. Maybe they will add more AF settings like speed and sensitivity. But I don’t see how they could improve the Jerky lens IS and the flickery zooming and noisy af motors. I just feel like video was not their target when designing them and once the XT2 and XPro2 made Fuji a mainstream system people demanded more video features. But I get that most consumers want one camera to do it all. I’m going to get and XH1 to give Fuji another shot to redeem the mess I’ve had with the XT2 issues. But I’m not overly excited about it like I was with the XT2.

Amazing stills, love the one of your son, and the excitement he has for shooting with his GoPro! Nice orange rocks and teal sky processing, very movie poster with complementary colors. Despite the hype about eterna, electronic first curtain, ibis, and internal log, these are incremental changes compared to what is coming very soon: global shutter, miniaturized Ibis everywhere, computational photography like we have in smartphones with neural network style presets. I find I can only carry two bodies at a time, so I'm very happy with my snappy T20 and my deep buffer weather sealed T1. Probably will sell my X100T with converters because that's a whole nother camera system, which I carry less often. (Have to test HSS vs leaf shutter in bright sunlight.)

With a name like X-H1, I was hoping for an APS-H sensor. Rumor has it the Fuji lenses will cover APS-H sensors in full.
