I bought the "Best of Kansas" record in the 80s after hearing this song on the radio. That's right. I bought the album because of this song.

Here we have a person who entered in 2025 to Kansas through this song... Now, only 2 months ago, have got all discography in cd and in vinyl too!!!! Insane.
One of the bands o my life, sure.

"Sometimes I hear the cry, (I hear it crying out)
Your voice from deep inside. (inside, inside, inside ...)
They're stealing you from me ...
Ever be ."
Love that brilliant transition from a man first sharing his persistent fantasy then sliding into an episode of poetic mania. The driving, stormy melody then returning to echo his torment. Do we envy his passion or pity his delirium?

A great track is one you never tire of after 36 years.

I have to say, :(, this song 😢 means the world to me, I have a beautiful daughter, I lost her father not too long ago, this was our song, one of many of course, he was amazing and he always sang this to me, I only hope she knows how amazing her dad was rip, Richard

Wish this track wasn't missing from my new CD of The Best of Kansas.  Annoying.  I love this song.

Vinyl Confessions and Drastic Measures are great; I don't care what anyone says!

I bought The Best of in 1984. ( on vinyl ) Hard to believe it's been 35 years now. Sounds as good now as it did then. I still wish I could go back sometimes.

This needed to be left on Kansas Greatest Hits. By the way, this is a strange song about an obsession with an imaginary perfect lover that can't compare to any real woman. It is great to have students in a psych class listen to it.

I know it's such a little part of this song, but for some reason, the ride cymbal part during the chorus really makes this song for me.

Probably the only studio song from Kansas that i don't own, as I bought all the regular albums and live allbums one by one over the years but never any compilation.
It's a rather decent song, orientated towards radio like so many on "Drastic Measures" - more of a creation of John and Dino Elefante than what I'd call real Kansas.... but it's OK. Thanks for uploading it;

I seen Kansas down in Cincinnati back in late 90s... AWESOME.... I used to love working out to this song when I was a bodybuilder back in my early twenties.... PERFECTION!!

The 2 Elefante albums should be called Kansas (with Guest singer John Elefante) They are not really Kansas, but it kept Kansas relivent for an extra half a decade. John E. has never sounded better. Even as a producer and soloist, His best was never better than three of the best pop-rock 80's songs EVER! "Fight fire with fire", "Perfect lover" and "Play the game tonight". Thanks Guys for writting these timeless songs

I bought The best of Kansas on two formats… On vinyl and cassette in 1984 and I still have those to this day it’s really sad that they can’t put perfect lover on any of their compilations?! Whatever wrecker company that Kansas has they should put perfect lover on the best of Kansas like they did in 1984 on freaking CD!!

The original 1984 album "The Best of Kansas", contains all their 70s hits Remixed, plus this new song "Perfect Lover", with the new guy John Elefante on vocals.
