I Made a HUGE MISTAKE with my MK7 Golf R Track Car...

UH OH... This didn't go to plan. My Golf R Track Car has sustained some mechanical damage which, in hindsight, I should've noticed sooner... Thanks to the team at VGS for rectifying the car, and getting it back on the road for a track day at Castle Combe!

Don’t assume lower is better… you need enough suspension travel with total control (no bottoming of the shock and enough stroke to keep the tyres on the ground)… don’t ‘stance’ it…. Set it to work or you will ruin it for both road and track.

Increased aero will make shorter/lower suspension even worse…. You will end up on the bump stops all the time and this can lead to a loose of control/grip, just the opposite of what you are trying to achieve

Nice. Enjoyed your video. I have a 2014 Golf 7R DSG. Go to track days with it. I had a Racingline oil catch can like yours, but replaced it with an APR, works better and easier, only miss the dippstick on the Racingline.

respect staying with the H pattern as much as I hate to admit this but the DCT will transform this car to the next level

Bigger Spoiler/Wing is that really necessary? Or your wanting something larger for aesthetics?

Great video Luke! Interested to know the cost of the repairs if you would be happy to share? I have a stock manual Golf R myself and replaced the clutch at around 35k miles with normal driving (never tracked or modified). They do wear a fair amount so with the track days you are doing that looks to have pushed the gearbox beyond its limit. As soon as I noticed mine slipping I had it replaced to avoid any further damage. Tough one to take but great to see you back out on track enjoying what you do and sharing the video 👍👍

What track tires do you run? Are you happy with them?

I guess the stresses and strains of track days will find any weaknesses in a car mechanically, especially the stock mechanicals

Hi… I have a question, with the amount of upgrades and massive cost how much faster are you than a std R and are you faster around the ring than Benny Leuchter in a std CCS?

There an absolute b for stretching. Should be 12.9 tensile

What's faster around the track, a DSG or a manual trans?
