Thanks! This is long. But I had to say thanks. You probably do not realize the effect one of these videos can have on a person. And way beyond the intended project. With me the actual project turned out to be me. I was (am) a very on the go DIY guy, and more of a DIYFEBY (or Do it yourself for everyone but yourself)). I would work in the office for 8 then in the shop or barn for 8. And loved every second. Three years ago I crushed my leg with a backhoe when avoiding wasp (I am allergic to ) I jumped on the back of the backhoe toe where it rotates
and stepped on the and the outer stabilizer with my other foot and leaned in to turn it off. My belt was barely touching the electronic boom control lever. The boom slowly came around without me noticing when I leaned further in to look at guages and crushed my leg right above the ankle. Then I tried to make it uncrush and accidentally pivoted it cycled closed again. There was only a 12 mm of room. Once I opened it I swung the boom clear and jumped down on both legs, one which collapsed 5 inches. Then I laid there for hours before I was found. But with that, the ambulance ride, the 14 hours of surgery, etc I did not get a lot done that day. It was followed by a couple months in hospital and then several weeks in rehab. The leg lost all three arteries, shattered into 100 pieces, and stayed that way for a year and a half until some cocky idiot doctor was willing to operate on his idiot patient and throw a steel rod, some solder, titanium, JB weld, a hammer, chisel, popsicle sticks, a lever of a John Deere 2030 and some bronze plate and he brazed, glued, screwed and best it all together. And I had only gone him to have it cut off after other docs had said they could do nothing. But he said he had about a 5 percent chance of success with surgery and I had about the same for keeping it. Then he said I know I got my side covered because I know I am better than 95 out of 100. Doctors. And you seem to be a little cocky yourself so you want to give it a go. And I told him that sounded like great odds to me. And we were right. I put everything I had into getting better and stayed positive throughout. I can walk even run if I have to. But I used up everything I had mentally to get well. And then I hit a wall. I have been stuck mentally ever since. Just not able to get going. My wife said it was the traumatic event. But I can't think of anything that happened😉. Anyway, about a month ago I am moping around. My wife turns on the TV and grabs my phone. She goes on YouTube and searched something and randomly pulled up a video of yours on YouTube and started it on the TV and she said do something like this. Just go out to the shop and get going. It kooks like something you would do. I watched it and a couple more of yours and Boom. It was like the energy poured back into me. I went out to the shop and started cleaning up. Making room for a laser. It was a long story but I had to say thanks. So use this 100 bucks to save another person. Like I said, you never know.. I owe you bud! My name is Jim by the way. Nice to meet. I might bother you later with a question. By then we might be good friends. You never know!!!!

I like you’re building videos as well, but the nice thing about ones like these is knowing the difference between these products.

Great presentation. I remember nearly 20 yrs ago collecting a bucket of stones off the beach in North Wales and laser engraving 'Property of Conway Borough Council' just as an April Fool joke on my school kids.

My friend just ordered this unit. I'm excited for him. I had the latest one from IKIER and I sent mine back because it came improperly assembled. This was a great review, and your craft is superb.

You, Sir, are a true Renaissance man! I'm impressed with the range and quality of your skills as well as with your artistic abilities. That's a tough combination and yet you make it look easy. After a life-time in business, I thoroughly enjoy both your presentation style and your no-nonsense, get-to-the-point delivery. I also value the content as you hone in on the facts and then, when the time for opinions has arrived, you make your thoughts known clearly and concisely. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing many more videos from you going forward. Thank-you!

This is my first time watching any of your videos. I can see why that viewer said they missed the days when you made stuff. The blacksmithing of the table legs was super cool.

I love watching decorative blacksmithing. It's a truly great art form.

That's amazing you can cut stone so well with it. I think your product review videos are very good, concise and cover all the important specs and usage. I hope I can win it. :)

Now these machines are getting more powerful and more useful. I was impressed by the stone engraving. I might be tempted to make some grave markers for poor Irish great, great grandparents who couldn't afford markers, so many years ago. Maybe some type of long lasting epoxy with UV protection to make the markers last many years, even after the epoxy wears off. Keep up the reviews and forging. Love that table. Too bad shop classes have been eliminated in US middle and high schools.

Wow. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep forge lit. Keep Making. God bless.

Regarding homing: set the software to home 5mm from the stops after triggering. I would also get rid of mechanical stops and use light stops. They are far more accurate due to lack of moving parts.

Got recommended your video on the Acmer by the algorithm, check in a bit later and this is in my feed. Couldn't have come at a better time since I'm wanting to get a new laser CNC, currently got a vevor 3040 15W. It's alright but need something a bit more solid so things like this and Acmer are great to see.

Also digging the format and presentation as well. So liked and subscribed. 🤙

I don’t know if you caught this in the news but researchers in Japan have just created a new solid state laser that is 10x the power of existing lasers (5W>50W) and they think it can go much higher. This is going to allow home metal sheet cutting.

Great review as always Joshua. Really nice to see you back at the anvil on this one. The stone engraving was really unexpected and might just have given me a reason to get one.

On one of your other raffles you said it was to raise money for the samaritans. As a long standing samaritan volunteer I just wanted to say thank you. The charity always needs donations and in doing so you will have helped to save lives.

Keep up the great work and give us some more blacksmithing. Your a very talented guy.

That table turned out awesoome. Loved watching the process of making it and learned some more about homemade tools used for forming. Thank You

That looks like it might be a Laser Tree brand module. The 30W unit on aliexpress looks very similar except it has a display near the top (for temperature?) and I think the air assist might enter on the right instead of the left. I didn't realize these things were under a grand for something with that much power now. I'm interested to install one onto an existing CNC machine...

you can use a combination of incremental movements (G91) and absolute movements (G90) to position the machine for the next cut

play room is loose belt play, it needs to be much tighter or there will be more shift when working, when the laser moves back and forth leaving that gap it's likely the belt taking up slight slack causing it

Very keen on a video about the design process. Thanks again Josh. Cheers, Bruce.
