Hello Friends,
In this tutorial we will see the installation of code:: blocks ide with MinGW GCC compiler for C and C++ Programming on windows 10. Also, we will create and run a simple c/c++ program inside code blocks. I have described the simplest way to setup C/C++ running the environment in Code:: Blocks. Please watch the complete tutorial for a better understanding of the complete installation and setup process.

Step1 : Download & Install

Select your operating platform (e.g., Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7).
(includes MinGW's GNU GCC compiler ).

Step 2: Verify the Compiler's Path:
****** Goto Settings Compiler In 'Selected Compiler',
choose 'GNU GCC Compiler' click tab "Toolchain Executables" Check the "Compiler's Installation Directory". It shall be set to the "MinGW" like set it to "c:\Program Files\codeblocks\MinGW".

Step 3: Creating a C/C++ project and running c/c++ program in Code::Blocks.
****** (Plz follow the instruction described in the video tutorial)

Enjoy your coding.
Have a nice day.

It took me so long to stumble on this video to give a proper explanation of how to add the compiler to CodeBlocks. Thank you very much!

Bro, when I open CodeBlocks a dialog box show up "A debugging check in this application has failed". I press there "continue" then it's open. I couldn't solve this problem.

Compiled .exe files doesn't work! I got code blocks installed correctly with the MingGW compiler. Everything works inside code blocks. But when I execute the .exe file outside code blocks it doesn't work.

I followed this precisely, however there is one difference: I am on 64 Bit Windows 10.
So the path is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeBlocks\MinGW\"
I input this (and "C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeBlocks\MinGW\bin") is in my windows PATH variable too.
I can type "gcc --version" in the console and this works as expected.
Codeblocks still doesnt find the compiler.

Edit:
I found the reason why;
Code blocks automatic compiler detetion looks for e.g. *"mingw32-gcc++.exe"* and so on.
It cannot find this, because the installed executable is actually *"x86_64-w64-mingw32-c++.exe", * many (but not all) executables have this prefix.
Therefore the automatic compiler detection does not work.
I defined all names manually, but on exit it cannot save the changes "permission denied" because the "program files" directory is write protected for normal users.
It does not ask for admin rights, but simply fails. So on restart all entries are lost. So you must start it as admin or better install it to a directory with write permission and without spaces.
Also, if you have to input paths into the dialog, write them without quotation marks. (These are added automatically, maybe it hurts to have them doubled)
I think this stuff is *not really made and not tested for windows* I tried a year ago and failed, and I am not so unexperienced.
If you need just a multi platform, multi target compiler and IDE that just works, use lazarus-freepascal, this works (almost ;-) ) out of the box and supports more target platforms. ;-)

I now installed it in C:\Codeblocks\ and set up the path and names of the executables manually and it works.

What if you already installed the software with the limited features? Do you have to reinstall?
