Sorry for the long winded video. You can use the timestamps to jump around. Also I fixed the KDE Plasma issue by switching to the LTS kernel, reinstalling Plasma, and ensuring everything was updated. I'm really loving Arcolinux after fixing these issues. Being this is my first time playing around with this there was bound to be a issue. Thanks for watching!

Dayum, Arco looks really good. You can feel how much thought they put into it. Wish they'd also let you choose your init system. That'd be awesome!

Hi Brandon, using the Tweak Tool: if i remember correctly what worked for me are the following steps: 1. install and update 2. reboot and login (but I never use autologin..) 3. go to tweak-tool, select and add DE or WM of choice. 4. preferably reboot again 5. on login screen select upper right corner dropdown menu and change to Plasma 6. login and you're up and running. Since it is 'one system' though it is not like running two DE's strictly parallel. The application menu on both XFCE and Plasma will show the respective applications of both XFCE and Plasma (like showing Termite and Konsole, or Geany and Kedit for example). So this works the neatest on 'related' DE's, where many applications are the same anyway. Like installing Arcolinux core and adding Nemo as file manager and then add Cinnamon as additional DE (which uses Nemo as standard file manager). Have fun!

Great video this was one of the better installers I've seen in terms of selecting software.

Did you reset the VM every time instead of rebooting from the OS?!
If so, then I m not surprised you ran into issues...

When using the graphic desktop installer:
:Firstly, install the desktop of choice then immediately log out. the desktop will be installed at the next startup. On the logout screen @ right top are two icons. press to reveal your installed desktop.

And please, also check *Garuda Linux*

It's an amazing arch based distro with *_tons of tools_* inside it...

all you need to do was log off/ log back in using Top right hand corner of login screen (dot) (sddm login screen). Nice video though! KDE does work fine btw

terminals; Terminator is nice, you add more by slitting the window, and I usually install guake or yakuake, it's drop down terminals, and I set it to F12 if it isn't already set to that.

I like the tweak tool but I wonder how big the update will be with xfce, kde and other de installed for no reason.
Point is that providing xfce as default while letting the users install the de they need will use alot of space and bandwidth on every update until user manually remove the pkgs of the de which is not needed anymore.

At 10:00 you were thinking of OpenOffice, which is basically the predecessor to LibreOffice. OnlyOffice is still actively being developed.

I've been using arco linux for several years. I played around with the tweak tool installing additional desktops. Usually when you do have more than one desktop when you login you get a menu to choose which desktop to boot into. I didn't see that on your login process. Hope that helps. I recently installed arco linux on a new (old optiplex 9020) and decided to stay with plasma. I found that with additional desktops sometimes that causes conflicts and some software conflict evolve, so sticking with plasma for now.

I always tell everyone try every Desktop Environment go crazy. Then you will realize the truth KDE is light years in the future and there is no reason to use anything else.

It's good to see errors while doing it, this way we get a heads-up

I've been hearing some iffy things about the Manjaro team. Arco has been very nice so far. Would be nice to see what Artix is like.

Install desktop environments via terminal.
Budgie works in the tweak gui, but cinnamon and kde seem to work better if installed via terminal.

Cant start any arch distro after installing, something with tty job control turned of, why this happens?
I always followed the instructions, and the installation process went well.
This also happens at (all)? other arch distros.
