Holy crap, a CAW tutorial in 2022??? I used to love watching people create worlds before everyone forgot the Sims 3 and/or this tool existed, lol. I tried making a few of my own as well and had THE MOST fun building rabbit holes and community lots! For me it was a huge change of pace from my usual playstyle, which made it really fun. I was actually thinking about this tool recently because I've been on the hunt for a non-laggy tropical-themed town with dive lots to replace Isla Paradiso and wasn't really satisfied with my search, so thanks for this!

Caw was one of the best additions in the Sims 3. My first encounter with sims games was the old Sim City from the 90s. So it took me back to my sims roots. I only managed to create 1 world. It's really involved if you want something large and realistic. One tip I would add. In the very beginning, determine which sides of the map are North, South, East and West. I use the paint tool to mark them. That way, you know which side of the map the sun rises and sets on, just for effect. * You can sample the Sun positions under the "Time of day" option under the View menu.

I love all forms of creativity, especially create a world type things like for the sims 3 and Minecraft, it’s really fun to sit and create your own fictional world that is fully functional.

Creating a world and creating cc clothes for my Sims 3 sims is the dream. I've used CAW multiple times on my old laptops to try to create my own world, edit existing worlds, and just to play around and get used to it but I've never actually finished a world. I did quit out of frustration at times but I'm pretty sure that was more on me than CAW, lol.

I have much better pc specs now so it should go a bit smoother than my earlier experiences. I remember my biggest issue was trying to connect multiple bridges together. I also never got around to trying to change water and sky colors like I wanted.

It's so worth the effort. I spent weeks creating and painting mountains. Meticulously planning all the sims including townies and making sure I had a good distribution of character traits, creating buildings. I planned out exactly where to put the roads and buildings, how many colours and types of plants I used per block, since the lagging increases if you use a ton. I made a Harry Potter world and it's so satisfying playing the game in a world you created. It's been so long that I don't even remember where I put all the spawners and some of the small decorations, so it's fun to discover it as a player.

Very good tutorial, it would have helped me a lot 12 years ago. At the time I was in a Hispanic community of simmers and together with a user we tried to make the world of the sims 1, all the neighborhoods united in a single map. Since I didn't know how to use CAW, I was in charge of making the houses and businesses as similar as possible to TS1. Unfortunately the other user lost interest in the project and therefore the idea died.
