Thnx bro! uninstalling the partially installed versions worked. i did not req. windows update so not sure if that's necessary. just uninstall all prev. Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables and install again. i have win 8.1 pro.

Hello all!

If you are getting the FRUSTRATING MESSAGE where Visual Studio stops install and refers to some missing .msi file which no longer exists on at your Package Cache directory, so that you have to hit cancel to get out of it, THIS IS THE FIX YOU ARE LOOKING FOR... GUARANTEED!!!

For me, I couldn't install the version of Visual Studio 2015++ that I needed in order for a particular game to work. EVERYTHING else installed fine... Directx, other versions of VS++ and I TRIED EVERYTHING to get it to work. From running SFC /SCANNOW, to CHKDSK /F/R, to uninstalling and reinstalling every version of Visual Studio, to AIO versions and so on.

You need to uninstall the offending remnants of whatever was left behind or missing, but how, RIGHT? This tool will, from Microsoft, ACTUALLY WORKS AND DOES THAT!


.Then simply run it, choose 'UNINSTALL PROGRAM' from the list and find the offending program.

Mine was a remnant VS 2015++ 14.0.21223 or something. It found it in the registry, corrected it and then, I was able to run the actual X64 package I needed, the one that came with the game and which wouldn't run without it.
