I actually used this method to calculate the angle on a universal shaft in three dimensions. I knew the location of the center of the universal spindles cross/center and I know the locations of the ends. The universal spindle's angle was not supposed to exceed a specific angle and we confirmed that we were good.

Why does the magnitude of the two vectors affect the angle between the two vectors? I don't understand why magnitude is a part of the equation. It seems to me like the angle between the two vectors would be independent of the magnitude. Am I thinking about this all wrong?
