California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Postal Service are investigating whether a mail carrier attacked and killed a wild turkey Monday in a Sacramento County neighborhood. Witnesses in the neighborhood contacted wildlife wardens to report the turkey having been beaten with some sort of a pole or stick that the mail carrier pulled from his vehicle. The neighborhood where the alleged turkey attack happened is no stranger to complaints about turkeys being aggressive toward delivery drivers. See more in the video above.

Turkeys are mean and aggressive. I know folks who've been seriously hurt by them. That postal worker was just defending himself.

If a wild Turkey wants to come after me all I can say is Hello dinner.

When a Game Warden say's "it was the biggest turkey he has ever seen", I do not blame the mail man for defending himself.

This is stupid. The fact the animal attacked is reason enough for the attacked person to defend themselves and fight back. I don't care what the animal activists think or say.

PLEASE GET YOUR STORY STRAIGHT. THIS MAIL CARRIER DID NOT ATTACK AND KILL THE TURKEY!!! THE TURKEY MADE THE FIRST
My brother-in-law was just attacked by a huge turkey leaving our property yesterday!!! Thank God he found a random board at our gate, which he flung at the thing as it was running toward him, feathers fanned out. He clipped the turkey's beard clean off his neck...Feathers went flying!!! But the turkey didn't give up!! My brother-in-law ran and took cover in his vehicle and as he was driving off, the turkey continued his attack! Running next to his truck and flying in front of him! SCARY STUFF!!

These loonies who want to coddle a wild turkey should spend more time with them during mating season! IT'S CALLED SELF-DEFENSE AND I HAVE THIS SITUATION ON VIDEO!!! HOPING THAT THE MAIL CARRIER IS OK!!!

If you're attacked by anything, dog, turkey, human, eventually your going to defend yourself. From what I understand the guy probably had enough! and just picked up a branch he found and swung it at the turkey got lucky smacking it in the head killing the bugger! Give this hard working fellow another chance and relocate him to another route 👏
These hard times I'm sure he needs his job

It's pretty sad when people put a turkey above another human being.

I'm a postman, and I've had to throw a bundle of letters at a giant turkey to get away.

Remember when the mailman only had to worry about dogs?

The turkey attacked, he defended himself. The only crime was not taking it home to eat

Lmao
Have you seen the spurs on them?
It's not poor anything. Plus, they're delicious and I would have taken it home for dinner!
Was this fowl play? 😜

The Turkey had a grudge against the mailman due to him eating his brother last Thanksgiving. However, the mailman had a right to defend himself.

I live in the 2nd biggest city in Washington state and we have a group of about 20 turkys in my neighborhood. They roam about 8 blocks long and 2-3 blocks up and down. Luckily they have never been mean and allow you to get fairly close on foot before running off together. Their group has been growing over the years, almost every year more little ones are tagging along.
