I think if the family had let it go so would have the prosecutors. But they and their lawyer kept doing media rounds accusing Royal Caribbean of negligence and looking for a paycheck.

If this girl's life actually was important enough to the grandfather then he should have been more cautious and leaned forward and stuck an arm out the window. Negligence on the grandfather's behalf for not sticking an arm out the window to check first, negligent homocide, case closed

It was an horrible accident but people need to think before they do crap and the grandfather clearly wasn't. Should he go to jail for it... I'm conflicted on it that. If they want to be trying to assign blame they can't just put it all on the cruise ship. He was the one who lifted her up there not one of the cruise ship workers.
