I actually have a friend who purposefully uses different rarities on his cards if he can to keep track of certain things, like which one of his Bentens were properly special summoned for instance. I found that incredibly clever.

I know that the rarity of the cards doesn't really matter, but a wise crab said it best: I'd rather be shiny.

One of my favorite memories was showing up to a new locals post the Masked Hero structure deck and absolutely wiping the store owner (who was on Max Rarity Mermail IYKYK) and he was absolutely fucking livid a new guy (kid at the time, like 16) showed up and just copped a W. Side note, he doesn't run a shop anymore since he drove out literally every single Yugioh player from his store.

Prime example of why I don’t care about what rarity or version of a card. All that matters to me is 1 is it a legal version and 2 is it what I need for my deck to work well? If I can get the exact same card and effects for $20 cheaper I’m ok with it not being fancy shiny.
