Star Trek Online – PC vs. PS4 vs. Xbox One Graphics Comparison

We compare the graphics of Star Trek Online on PC with ultra graphics settings, PS4 and Xbox One. PC is not maximum because we stayed with the recommendation not to set the view distance over 1,0. An overview of the graphics options can be found at the end of the video. This video shows the PC version before its graphical upgrade to match it to console graphics. We played in 1080p. The consoles offer new lighting system with more dynamic lighting and further improvements.

where a console lacks in View Distance sharpness and quality...they make up for in shaders to try and add more dramatic lighting to give a sense of a more vivid scene...but in end PC wins out over all. and did i mention play on PC does not have that clunky feel to it.

It may be worthwhile to do this test again. The reason being that the lighting engine has been revised, and the revision was given to the XBOne and PS4 folks at launch, however it only just released to the PC in the last week, after this video was posted. This is the most apparent difference, which I feel could skew the results.

Is the console version of STO more stable than the PC? I've tried STO on 3 PCs and they all had bugs. Loadouts resetting, ships putting ship items in the inventory when I switch zones, skills not benefiting the ship or game play. The PC game is full of memory leaks. It is a nightmare.

I'm curious as to why the colors and contrast on the PC seem to be noticeably more vivid than on console which looks more gray and drab.

The graphics definitely needs an overhaul, and improvements. I stopped getting into it the same around the Iconian arc. Still, I find it fun to go back to every so often. They just went with DPS charts instead of classes, and pandered to the crybabies that said it was too hard. Kind of killed the fun. Been thinking about trying it on console, but I assume it's probably all about the deeps on there too.

It looks better on console than pc to me, I'd say Xbox one and ps4 are pretty equal, with of just a little less, they all look great to me, it's an older game, so yea it's not going to look as good as the games of today, but it's a really fun game, the graphics are good enough for me.

The console versions looks more vivid in color and more detailed shadows. I remember, when it was on beta, my PC can't handle it even on lowest. But last year run fine on my Intel HD4600, since I was between graphics cards.

it looks way better on PC even IMO than on PS4, i have it on both...and i play on PC...cause it does not feel as clunky as it does on console.
