Been playing STO off and on for a good 10 years now I think it's the perfect game for any Star Trek fan

The game made me a fan of the shows. I'm 29 and I hope there's another game like this for future trek fans to game on.

To me this game never felt the same after they removed the foundry

As one of the high end players DPS wise… I’ll say yes and no. Yes if you’re a Star Trek fan and just want to play to be a part of the Trek universe and don’t care about anything else than the immersion. No if you care about the performance of your build, get bothered by visual spam (the summer event abomination from last year just needs to die, along with the Kumarke ground set, along with a bunch of other things). Myself and many others are on a burnout at the moment due to the constant spam of event after event after event after event (usually with poor quality content) and on top of that dealing with poor server performance, there’s also many of us who would rather see them put things in the zen store rather than into lockboxes because they’d probably earn more money if people could just pick up that hero ship they want instead of having to gamble or even turn to the black market for it, they also need to do away with the bundles! Let people buy the ship or ships they are interested in without all the fluff and the hefty price tag! I’m looking at you 10th anniversary bundle (for example!) they’d sell more if more people could actually afford to buy it! And also, why would I want to buy a bundle for close to $300 when all I want from it is 1-2 ships and I don’t care about the rest? Just no!

So yeah, play if you’re after the immersion. Don’t bother starting if you care about performance unless you are willing to spend literally hundreds of dollars on overpriced pixels to catch up on things along with getting current stuff (a fair bit of really good items and ships were FREE from events years ago, Mudds market is a scam btw)

I've only just started and I think it's really good. Simply because the feeling feels like Star Trek.

The game is still very fun to play. The problem is the end game content is gated behind a decade of special events that the veteran players have gear from. Makes it very difficult participate in a meaningful way in the endgame content. That’s not to say you can’t access the content but when you just get to endgame and you can barely scratch a Borg cube and other players kill them in one volly it just reinforces how far behind you are. You can grind some new gear but for some of it the only way to catch up is baby spending money. That’s not a good feeling.

honestly i have been playing sto for about years and still love it heck i created a new character this past weekend and used the double xp going on right now to level up to 65 ...building a themed ship based of the A10 warthog for hilarity sake of doing it.

i started playing it like a week ago at most and already put 50 hours into the game. it’s honestly fun asf lol, it has its problems and could be a bit better but i love the game. the gameplay with shooter mode kinda gives off mass effect vibes too

For me, it is the Best Star Trek themed game. Period. Still playing it from time to time, mainly because i love their missions and even graphics are amazing, even after So many years. So far, nothing can compare to that. Missions, structure (fleets, armadas, star bases, ship interiors, gear effects, skills, be that item set based, job based, Race based, ship based, characters sets, ship sets, you name it).

I was originally playing with a group of people known as the 7th Colonials on Battlestar Galactica Online. When that went offline everyone went to Star Trek Online unfortunately my laptop at the time didn't have the necessary resources to be able to run it.

Back when they had the $300 lifetime membership (before they got bought out), I played a lot. The takeover happened and I didn't get an email, lost my lifetime sub which had perks that carried over with their new model evidently and then my character data didn't get transferred over. I guess there was some type of grace period, can't bring myself to play after that. Might try it again, but that loss of data was a big deal for me. Hundreds of hours lost and the lifetime perks down the drain.

had it since realise, its alright. as long as you dont get too much ground combat it can be a very fun game to play through
