Wago connectors are now listed in the North America Wiring Code to replace using Wire Nuts with 120 volt 15/20 Amp wiring. They have been used in Europe for over a decade in their Electrical Coding

Wow, those are heavy duty. Gotta love a Wago connector, really neat to see board mount ones.

There was a guy doing a talk on prototyping a while back on either YouTube or Hackaday, and when he was talking about wiring, he said, "If you use screw terminals and stranded wire, use bootlace ferrules!" After I started doing that, I've never had a stranded wire slip out of a screw terminal, ever again. They hold like a dog playing tug of war, and they are fantastic if you need a "permanent as long as it works" connection that can take a beating. The drawback is that this is a lot more useful if you're using the bigger screw terminals with 0.2" or 0.3" pitch, the smaller 0.1" pitch blocks don't have a lot of clamping force, and ferrules that fit that size tend to be quite finicky in my experience.

I bought the 2601 block a couple of years ago, just to see how they worked. They're great if you need to shove upwards of 10 amps of power through a nice thick wire, but the pins are too big for a standard 0.1" pitch perf board, they're more designed for PCBs. The springs are super strong too, I think they're stiffer than the old Wago 222 lever nuts.

Cage clamps for the win. Have done a few boards using them over the last 3 to 4 years.

Wago makes great products! I've started using their connectors for home wiring projects, way easier than the twist nuts.

As an electrician, that melty footage was top rate!

Wagu blocks, yum! Also, prob with screw terminals with stranded wire is you might get a stray unraveled wire strand making contact with wire strands from an adjacent terminal. ANXIETY.

Usually they print on the side (as a de-bossed lettering) a reminder "self documenting" the wire-length (in [mm]) to be stripped before insertion.

why didn't they invent them years earlier? or did I just overlook those?
