I actually found one of these today whilst swimming at the beach.

If anyone is wondering why it looks like that it’s actually because the shape acts like a corkscrew. The mother shark will wedge it with the corkscrew shape into a crevice or crack so nothing can get it. Strong currents and fast water can’t sweep it away because the sort of edges on the corkscrew shape keep it stuck inside. Pretty cool!

This is actually a Port Jackson shark egg. A horn shark egg has a light tan color, but shaped the same as a port Jackson shark. They are cousins too.
