iv always wanted to be a nail tech but I've gotten hate because I'm black and I'm not Asian, then I learned that u don't have to be a certain race to do something, I'mma get a practice nail kit so I can start practicing and preparing for what God has for me in the future

I've dealt with the Asian techs then Covid hit, I was lucky to find a Professional Nail Tech and I was Happy to support a small Black Business. She was good at first then every time i came she had someone in my time slot, so I would have to wait. Then she raised her prices which is understandable but she then told her clients she would be busy doing the weekends so we had to come during the week. (Which was not good for me I work during the week) Final straw was I had to wait an hour because she had someone in my time slot, so that was the last time i went to her. I found another tech (Black owned) she was good at first then she started to have me soak off my own nails and still would charge me the same price, . I got tired so I decided to do my own nails, I remembered how my techs did my nails so taught myself, now I have over 15 Ladies that want me to do their nails, but I DO NOT want to deal with the hassle. So i only do my nails and I've SAVED so much money. One night i did my nails at 2 in the morning, that's another Great thing, doing my nails whenever I want, on my own time and saving $90 to over $100 every 3 weeks 😊

I honestly wish when I was in school they spent a day or two specifically on how to get your business up and going. My class only skimmed over it in the book and I was so confused and lost when I was done and I was asking one of the other girls in my class for advice.

I recently started doing my nails bc I live in Japan and with my job it’s sometimes hard to book appointments not to mention the techs here are TAXIN with just basic sets and so long story short, I discovered a fun hobby. I love it here 😩

Tysm I really needed to see this video, I'm a beginner nail tech and I had to stop doing nails for a little bit to save money to put towards products there is definitely a lot u have to put towards a nail business and it's not easy. I had thoughts on not doing nails anymore but I just keep thinking about it and ik I just couldn't give up, and now I've been doing nails for almost a year now and I'm only 11

This was really helpful. I'm pursuing a career as a nail tech and I need a license in my state but I wanted to know whether schooling was worth the cost or not. Your experience helped me decide another route like an apprenticeship may be more beneficial to me because of the real-world experience I would gain right off the bat, the lower cost for the training, and the guarantee for either a job with the salon that trained me or going out on my own. Also, as far as products are concerned, I've been using Young Nails for the last 3 years and when I say they last, I mean they last. I swear by them. I'm glad you mentioned the Valentino colored powders bc I considered getting them since they're so vibrant but if they're trash, I'd rather not. Happy I found your video. Many thanks.

I’m so happy that the school I go to Shawntays School of Creative Nails does focus on teaching everything about nail, nail enhancements and even nail art. Guys try to find a school that does show you everything.

I love how honest you were, like about Valentino, and u were being mean or saying they suck just that product type and I felt the same with what I have and thought it was me so it’s nice to have real and honest opinions… that’s what we need. The industry is growing and some will weed themselves out but the real deal ones are great ful for u, ur tips and ur products . I originally went to cosmo school back in 2000 and decided I didn’t like it with all the other stuff I had to do lol but now 22 yrs later along with makeup and lashes I realized I do like doing nails still so about 11 months ago I got back into it and I’m full force jumping in and praying I’m not going to much right away. I always feel I have to have or someone might want and I need to focus more on the clients I have and the potential there and near instead of trying to be dramatic but then again I’m reaching for the stars, but I do wish I was able to get more products to try and advertise but anyone I tried to be an ambassador for they either want me to buy so much and use or wants me to have a whole bunch of followers.. I’m like dang why can’t they also work with beginners and send some stuff we use and advertise and we both win and renegotiate later or something
Anyhow sorry got off track but your an inspiration to the industry and I love how real you are
