Loving Spearhead as between work and Dad responsibilities I struggle to find time to commit to 4 hour AOS/40k games. Spearhead gives you the option of quicker games, taking up less space at home, and giving the benefit of smaller painting projects so you feel like you are making progress quicker and can have more painting project diversity if you go for different armies. We are currently running a Spearhead league at the local FLGS which has attracted a handful of new people. Currently have 14 people with 13 different armies represented and everyone is enjoying it!

To me the attractiveness of Spearhead are the free rules and that I prefer to collect many factions instead of going all in on one faction. I hope they continue to support Spearhead.

I'm really enjoying spearhead but completely agree with the terrain and board critique. We've just started playing house rules and using different terrain and a bigger board. Keeps it fresh

Have played 12 games of spearhead, mostly in a tournament setting (1.5hr timeframe / match), I think its great fun, relatively robust and offers a significant amount of meaningful & tactical decisions almost every game with decent skill expression for a beginner friendly game! If you are thinking about it - definitely give it a try! The fire & Jade pack is essential though! - the cards and board is what MAKES the game.

Loving Spearhead, perfect for folks with busy lives. Those rats and terrain you showed were amazing paint jobs! 👌

Those lower model count spearheads and playing on a smaller game board are really enticing as someone who exclusively plays skirmish games. Thanks for sharing!

Hammering the war since 2nd ed. WHFB. My problem with AoS 3.0 was that it got more and more bloated with rules aiming to keep competetive interresting. Im also a Father of a 5yo and my hobby time ist limited. Spearhead brought me back into painting and playing. I love the format. It's not as long and I don't have to care for army building, drops and battle tactics at all. I can pick a Spearhed from my armies sit down and get started. It's the best format to get into Warhamer since.

Spearhead is exactly what got me into AoS! I played a few games, really enjoyed it, and picked up the Skaven to play my own army.
The store I play at typically plays Path to Glory on Thursdays, so I just transitioned into that and it felt like a lot less of a learning curve as I already knew the core rules, unlike Kill Team to 40k.
100% recommend!

I bought the Skaventide box mostly because my wife just likes the Stormcasts familiar models and my new FLGS got a really good deal on it and we actually managed to build all of them _and_ have a game of Spearhead within a couple weeks so I definitely consider it a big win, it does what it says on the tin, gives you a quick and relatively easy way to got into AoS.

From what I've heard, spearhead was actually in development before combat patrol, and when 40ks team saw it they knew they wanted to make their own, but had to rush to put it out with the launch of 10th

I think we also need to mention how good the value of Skaventide Box is. 140€ (usually cheaper if you buy from non GW stores) for two full spearheads, the battle map, terrain, rulebook for spearhead and AoS, and the jade/fire card set

Quick note: As far as terrain goes, you can use any terrain as long as it is two pieces of heavy and two pieces of light terrain.

Agreed on all points! Spearhead has been fantastic at helping my game group teach new players for sure, and it's been a good intro to 4th edition. We're also all excited about AOS for the first time, which has been fun. We're also using different terrain from the Heart of Ghur Warcry sets, which helps shake things up a bit. I think this was a step in the right direction for GW, I hope they shake things up with new play boards and terrain! Thanks for the video!

I was a Necromunda and Mordheim player with no interest in one of the GW core games. Then they released the Skaventide trailer and they piqued my interest. Then they described Spearhead and I preordered the box. Now there are five of us building Spearheads to play and potentially move into Path to Glory in the future.

Spearhead worked well on our group.

As someone with not a lot of time to hobby because of work but who enjoys variety I dont really have a lot of time to put together and plan mutiple armies and play full games of AoS so spearhead being smaller, shorter and being a set list is a very welcome addition for me since it just ticks all the boxes

Feels like a great casual format ripe for house rules like custom board size and terrain. I’m going to give it a so since I need to buy literally 1 model to have the Kruleboyz spearhead 🤘

I used to frequent my local GW shop a lot and when Kill Team was originally published (Black Library site, it was a free download as I recall), it was a way to play with friends who's collection was not as large as some players. At least that's how it was explained to me by my local GW salesperson. You literally picked individual models from your army and then, after paying the points cost in your codex, you assembled your team. Later, they streamlined it to have their own books and stuff and now they have bespoke model kits. I wish it stayed how it was, or closer than it is now. But, I'm glad others are having fun with it.

I've stuck to warcry as a new hobbyist. This feels like such an accessible way to dip my toes into building an army before going crazy and committing to multiple boxes before even knowing if I like the feel of an army's playstyle.
Currently debating between Sylvaneth and Soulblight Gravelords.

Spearhead got me over the barrier of buying into GW by getting the Skaventide box (found it for less than the Ultimate Starter). Got the Stormcast Spearhead built and slowly working on the rats (realizing I probably wouldn't want to go for a full horde army) and connected with the AoS players at the FLGS, just haven't been able to manage to find the time to get a game in yet...
