Parts of Theseus‘s ship keep having to be replaced over the years. Eventually, the entire ship consists of new material. Similarly, we humans are also changing constantly – but do we still remain the same person? What gives us our identity?

What is right? What is real? And who am I, after all? Philosophy asks life's big questions. We present these questions as animated thought experiments, and thereby show how fascinating and entertaining it is to ponder life.

Vision from Wandavision just offered an interesting and probably the most simple answer that is memory. If we take it to personification aspects, then the point that determines we are still who we are and never change it’s because of our memory. Or to be scientifically specific, our brain, neurons, etc never changed.

The ship of Theseus is the one he sails around in. The other ship made from the spare parts is the ship of the Shipmaster (he has the receipts to prove it).

Simple. Both are real as they both exist but the old one, the one that was reconstructed is the original. The second one is made by new parts, therefore it's new. As for humans we remain the same because even tho our body, opinions and thoughts change, we still carry all of our individual experiences in our memory. And the changes in our personalites are direct result of those experiences.

Also let's not forget that the case here is impossible. Noone can build a second ship out of scrap and noone can restore our dead cells in to existence. So in reality this paradox is only a hypothetical scenario - it doesn't really exist. Every problem in reality has a solution.

Well, I think I get my answer of this bateau de Thesée from Lao Zi:
"We turn clay to make a vessel;

The empty, intouchable part of this thing is the most real, all the rest is just the replaceable material.

we are the construct of our habits, our approach to things, the way we do things, hardly changes over time after a certain age, I think limiting the metaphor to an object is an inadequate representation of a person, I think in a way the boat is the sailor, a person is an organism that's always changing in it's capacity to absorb the world around it, the pattern at which one extracts the information, comprehends it and applies it, is what makes a person. I am open to correction as I myself am not perfect neither is my understanding of the world.
