so only hens can be hemizygous? just due to it only having one spot for certain gene type? where the males have 2. hope i got that right.
I appreciate the little visuals very helpful.
id love to hear more about the white gene but i can see where it would be hard to breed out since its not always visual is it?

Ok so when you say that clean pharaoh is hard to find now I understand why you say that. So with a “not clean” pharaoh that can really mess with someone’s project with unexpected mutations showing up correct?
Can you please explain how someone can properly clean the pharaoh stock they have?

I watched this but it was over my head. What id like to do is breed a black quail that lays blue eggs. I ordered a batch of 10 black quail eggs and 30 mixed eggs. A few of them are celadon. there are farms that sell Celadon hens and a few of them are brown tuxedos. I would settle for a black and white tux celadon. Can you tell me where i should start. I know my rooster will be all black, so he will be homo... i hope that doesn't offend anyone.

Edit: Instead of ansering my question directly, which may be impossable, can you tell me what i'm in for? Like, would i need to hatch out 1000 eggs before I find what im looking for? i can do 500, i have that kind of time. but 1000? That's alot of necks to snap, and im the dad that takes the house bugs back outside...so im not sure how i'll cope.
