I wish conservatives were as committed to their ideas as the left pretends.

Fun fact, despite being derided as "off brand Oreos", Hydrox cookies actually came first. It's actually Oreos that are the knock off.

It reminds me of the Obama elections. Everyone was saying how ravenous the rightwing was about keeping a black man out of office, yet 2008 and 2012 had the lowest Republican voter turnouts in history.

"Don't be ridiculous, there aren't 10000 genders, there's only 75. That's right, I'm a Conservative!"

I *wish* federal-level Republicans were as hardcore as the left thinks they were. We might actually get some of the things we want.

When there is no political party that will actually represent any solid or rational beliefs you might have a systemic problem.

Yeah, true about the off-brand stuff. At H‑E‑B, they sell “Hill Country Brand” that’s suspiciously similar to the brand names, but you can taste the difference. Sometimes I prefer the store brand over the regular product anyways.

Nailed it. One thing I've always thought though is that the left doesn't actually boycott either. It's just their threats of a boycott are met with capitulation whereas conservative boycotts are met with ridicule and are dismissed immediately.

Yes indeed, they see their political and ideological opinions as akinned to behaving like Saturday morning cartoon villians, because that is the ONLY way these people can rationalize reality.

Fun fact: Oreos are actually the rip-off brand to the original Hydrox cookies

That whole beginning is basically what all the new purge movies believe about conservatives.

“I’m a conservative and believe in small government”… “wait, not my Social security income”… “wait, not my police state”… “wait, don’t cut money for our allies”…”wait, ……….

The first part was essentially how Simpsons depicted Conservatives back when it was 'less biased'

As a conservative, I'm pretty disappointed with the degree to which conservatism has disappeared from the culture

Me, "Don't you wanna stand up for rights in this country?"
Conservatives, "I'm too busy. I have a job." Followed by "I just re-watched every episode of (insert name of show) on Netflix."

Normiecons in the US are just classical liberals.

They might own guns and go to church but the dominant ethos of American GOP types is not ever giving a shit about society writ large.

They fetishize the 50s through the 90s simply because they like nostalgia. They might rail about how things aren't like how they used to be, but their whole mindset over the past several decades was to never really do anything to slow the train down. Live and let live only works as a social compact when the other side is just a different flavor of libertarian AND has a sense of decency. But when the other side goes full Authoritarian and full depravity then just passively ignoring every societal trend doesn't work anymore.

The only conservative movement that ever really seemed to work at all was the Pro Life movement. Because people actually cared deeply and organized

My favorite aspect of modern Conservatism: "We believe fighting the CULTURE WAR is the most important battle because politics is downstream of culture! Therefore, we are making CULTURAL CONTENT and hiding it behind a paywall so only people who already agree with us will ever see it."

I get that conservatives are the pro-capitalism party and there's no harm in making an honest buck but you don't get to simultaneously frame yourself as a hero of the culture wars while also doing your best to ensure that only people who already agree with you see it.
