Minecraft’s CUT Achievements

The Minecraft advancements menu has been in the game since update 1.12 and every single update since has added new advancements to bring us to a total of 110 in the game today as of 1.21. However, Minecraft’s advancements is actually the second take on this sort of challenge concept as there used to be an Achievements menu instead. This consisted of 34 challenges, however most of these were actually removed when the game updated to 1.12. So today I thought it would be fun to go over the 21 cut achievements, talk about why they were removed, and if I think they should return!

It's such a shame that the ''Getting wood'' achievement is now removed. It's SUCH an iconic one.

The fact "Cow Tipper" could be achieved by killing Horses was always funny to me at the time.

all of these achievements are actually on bedrock edition (although on a rail is changed to only require riding for 500 blocks instead of 1000). I think it'd be interesting to see you review the bedrock exclusive achievements

I feel like from all these, "Getting Wood" deserves to come back the most, not because it's the most challenging or out there Achievement, but because of how iconic it is to the franchise.

Anytime someone wants to reference Minecraft, they either use Steve or reference this one, so it's a bit like Minecraft's version of "The Cake is a lie."

I think if "when pigs fly" comes back, it should come with 2 extra ones. A secret one called "Pigs fly?" Which you would get by riding a pig with levitation, and also "when pigs glide" that you would get by going 20 blocks horizontally midair on a pig, probably with slow falling or somethin

I think "On A Rail" is just to get the statistics to 1km travelled in a minecart. So 4 powered rails and 4 normal ones to make a rounded square should work. At least that was the strat in Captive Minecraft. Not sure if it also worked in vanilla, but I assume so

I really like how the Free The End advancement just says "Good Luck" for its tip.

The Ender Dragon fight isn't hard, you probably don't even need a Good Luck, but its appreciated

Not only is the video under 20 minutes, it's also under 15 minutes. He's improving

Edit: Everyone who's replying that you like longer content is likely not aware that Odyssey Central is trying to edit his 200K special. He needs to make shorter videos so he can spend more time on that video. However, he initially had trouble with making videos that were under 20 minutes, which is something that Odyssey has brought up.

The most annoying thing about achievements for me was that Minecraft forced you to get them in a certain order, so whenever I started a new world and got wood before opening my inventory, the progression was just very strange, as I'd miss certain achievements and they'd pop up WAY after I had done the requirement. To me, advancements are a definite improvement

Also all of these achievements are still in bedrock edition

Hot Take: Diamonds to you! should return but now with a new description like "Throw diamonds at someone." and maybe a larger number of mobs you can throw diamonds at to obtain the achievement in single player worlds.

Odyssey suggestions for Minecraft rankings
- rank every X, Y, and Z coordinate + every possible combination
- rank every pixel on every block + their hex codes
- every subscribers pfp built in Minecraft
- all people hidden in his basement by skill at Minecraft
- every 2d and 3d Mario level built in Minecraft by how well Steve is at them
- every hex code Minecraft uses on their textures
- all of his thumbnails in Minecraft

The really funny thing about all these achievements is that almost all of them are still in the game today in the Bedrock edition of Minecraft, outside of The End, which like in Java was split into two achievements for entering the End and killing the Ender Dragon, and while On a Rail is still in the game, it only requires you to travel 500 blocks on a rail instead of 1000
