Mamiya RB67 PRO SD (Unboxing + First Impressions)

In this video I did an unboxing of the Mamiya RB67 PRO SD medium format camera. I also provided my first impressions of the camera.

I recently acquired a new medium format film camera from Mamiya, the RB67 Pro SD. I originally wanted to get the Mamiya RZ67 but with the price hike on this camera it is just unjusitifiable. Instead, I did my research on the RB and found a lot of good things about it that makes it just as good if not better.

One of the main factors that made me yield towards getting the RB is that it is fully mechanical and I do not have to worry about any electronic parts breaking. Another factor is this specific model that I got was made in 1990 and the original RZ67 Pro was made in 1982 which made me think that it might be a wise option since its newer meaning there were a lot of improvements made to it.

I still like the RZ. But I can always buy a RZ body since all RB components are fully compatible with the RZ and that way I got both of the best worlds!

Congrats on the new camera bro!
Try practicing on some Still Life photography and maybe selfies while you are at home.
That's what I did during quarantine hahaha

I loved my Mamiya RB67 Pro S. Took it on a trip to Mexico and it was super reliable. I later moved onto the RZ67, and I gotta say it isn't that special. I'd take the RB67 over the RZ any day. However, the one plus about the RZ is the 110mm f2.8 lens.

I actually had a RB67 5 or 6 years ago but never really used it because it was too heavy... Cuz I live in HK and most ppl here don't own cars, and hence a pain in the ass to carry it around the whole day.... so I sold it.... I actually want a Mamiya645 now...

Great video and beautiful camera! On the hunt for Pro SD as well, where were you able to buy it from?

I love the RB Pro SD and the Pro, I have a system based around a couple of bodies and a bag full of glass. The RB is much better than the RZ, as there are no electronics to fail, especially given the age of the gear, and perhaps not Mamiya's strong point! Whilst it is much heavier than the RZ, a far more sensible and practical choice. ENJOY.
