Hello of everybody out there in social media land, it's your personal injury and family law attorney, Derek Bernstein here to answer another legal question. Today, the legal question is how long does a car accident settlement take? Ooh, that's a loaded question there, but when I get all the time. And so how long does it take? It depends. So it's going to depend mainly on a couple things. One is going to be, how hurt are you? So how hurt are you? If you just got a bruise on your arm might not take that long? If your right arm is severed off and you need 10 surgeries could take a lot longer? So that's a big one. How hurt are you?

Number two is going to be, what is the insurance coverage of the person who actually injured you? So if we're talking about a case where the maximum value of insurance money is 10,000, and then it depends on how you were hurt, 10,000, about four to six months is probably what I would be looking at of how it should take if you do not need to file a lawsuit. Now, if it's larger, 100,000, 200,000, 500,000, million dollars, and you're really hurt and you need surgeries, then it really depends too, is how long it takes you to recover? How long it takes you to recover, not fully, but to get to a point where we can give an estimation of what your future medicals are going be for your permanent injury.

This was helpful. My wife was t-boned by a kid racing around in a mustang, she was pregnant and our 1 year old was in the car. Totaled our Range Rover. She’s been in extreme pain since, herniated discs, torn rotator cuff. The neck injections and PT haven’t helped much at all. She can barely carry the kids but it’s becoming more difficult as they grow.

We’re going on a year now and there’s no amount of money that’s worth what we’ve been through. It’s a horrid experience all around and short of an extremely expensive & evasive surgery there’s not much else that could be done. Beyond frustrating.

? Im been for 5 months with physical therapy and injections and i feel not fully recovered, my lawyer said there is not a settlement offer yet, he thinks the best option is to take the case to court, it is too soon?

I'm having trouble with a drunk driver who hit a fire hydrant which flooded under and around our house where we had water then mud for 5 hours.
I just want it cleaned up and put back the way it was because we had just done all this work the previous year. But they didn't want to send an adjuster out they want me to do all the work.

Me, my wife, and her sister were T boned. Cops gave other driver ticket, they were at fault!we all went str8 to hospital, I fractured my wrist and we all had back, neck, and hip pains. We did
P/T for about 4 months. Their insurance is GEICO with 50k policy. We were told that the lady handling our case was fired from our lawyers firm because she wasn’t doing SOMETHING right! The new lady told us we’ll be charged 400$ to send documents to keep the case open ( we were past statue of limitations) and now they tell us we’re not going to pocket ANYTHING and we’re actually in the negatives after hospital bills which is only P/T and the ambulance! Something just seems fishy!
So I booked an appointment with actual lawyer Aug. 8th! Any tips on what I can do to get SOMETHING OUT OF THIS.
I would’ve been better off keeping and fixing my car, they said it was totaled but I could’ve repaired it but me thinking without my lawyer guiding me I thought I would pocket $ and get a new car bad idea and honestly I could’ve gone without P/T but First Lady insisted I kept going and rack up that bill!!!!
I would appreciate any advice bro
