New Path of Exile 2 Update Is Wild – And Broken?

The Dawn of the Hunt league is here in Path of Exile 2, and it's already turning heads... and smashing builds. In this video, I break down everything you need to know about PoE 2 Patch 0.2, including the massive nerfs to popular builds, the new Huntress class, and the addition of nearly 100 new support gems that are flipping the meta upside-down.

I also cover the Phrecia event in Path of Exile 1, which players are begging to have extended, and I share my take on GGG’s new approach to slower, combo-based gameplay — and whether it actually works when the monsters are still going full PoE1 turbo mode.

On top of that, we’re seeing major crashes, performance issues, and weird bugs like the infamous “unknown object” error that’s bricking characters. It's messy. It's exciting. It’s classic PoE.

Somebody somewhere wrote that this new PoE2 patch is the best patch Last Epoch could get. And I agree with it.

Really just feels like this patch was meant to slow down veterans that play everyday for 12+hrs and just flip the bird to casuals that maybe only get 1-3hrs a day or only weekends.

"the meta is completely different now, and that's great!" - That statement there is what many of us hate about modern ARPGs. There is a difference between bringing an overperforming build down equal with other builds vs. deliberately nerfing them out of viability to force a change whether players want it or not. The latter is the reason I still play old ARPGs before this became the go to tactic for devs.

The problem with huntress combo play is that it relies on charges. In the first two acts you basically can't get charges any other way than parry + disengage, so the dynamic is mostly about waiting for enemies to hit you, but not too many at once or you're stunned.

Pretty much all of the skills that rely on charges, are worthless without the charges. Why are the charges even a part of the equation, wasn't the idea to do combos? I don't really mind parrying as a mechanic but when your combo becomes "wait for enemy hit + parry + disengage + explosive spear + whirlwind slash x3 + barrage + twister" to do a bit of damage, what are we even doing here?

Did they nerf monsters as well? No. Did they fix the stupid 1 hit kills that you can't see? No. Did they give your character mass so that a rat doesn't push you across the map? No. Did they clean up the screen vomit that occurs when a bunch of spells and skills so you can see what's actually happening? No. Did they nerf the dumb Trails for the Ascendency points so normal people can actually complete them? No. So the game is still a janky mess. Cool, Pass.

That D4 bug @ Tree of Whispers just happened a moment ago in a softcore season setting. Chat window shows two characters slain - one by a sparking vengeful spirit; the other by a dreadful banshee. My character got hit each time but I was next to the health npc. While typing this a 3rd character was killed by a dreadful banshee.

My Short experience with Dawn of the hunt launch:

I'm not sure why but I had no issues running the game. I did have one singular crash. But it let me right back in and did not crash again afterwards. Frame rate was as normal as it always has been playing the game.

The only thing that was odd to me was it felt like the difficulty had been spiked up a lot. Playing the new class I died several times in the first Beach area to normal mobs. Which has literally never happened before in both poe1 and Poe2 lol

I am glad i stopped playing poe2 a while ago. I hated it because of the stupid pay to win trade system, but it seems the more ggg updated the game the less reason i see to ever start playing again.

Woke up today, logged in PoE 2 and experienced multiple crashes. Guess I’ll wait until 1.0. Was really just playing to stay occupied until LE.

Technically, "Unknown object type serialized by server" means the server serialized (i.e. turned an in-memory BLOB into its text representation), and the format of that serialized object is unrecognized, so the client can't parse it back into a BLOB.
If I were to guess, I'd say they added or removed an attribute from an object on the server, and forgot to update the client schema.

BLOB = Binary Large OBject (it could also be a Small OBject, the important part is the Binary part)
