I'll say for newer players, ranged or casters with some points in defenses might be the best way to go early. It's safer to kill bosses as ranged as you don't have to dodge/roll every mechanic, and you can get pretty far in the game with minimal gear as ranged when you don't need to tank everything you fight.

Going to start as crossbow and move some into monk/warrior classes to make myself into a tank ( litterally ) firing grenades from behind a shield

Im going to choose a blood mage with the central gimmick being the werewolf gem. I will try to strike a balance of offense and defense on the ascendancy while creating two diverging pathways for melee and ranged damage on the tree. My goal is to use debuffs and long range attacks as a human, while focusing on crit chance and bleeding as a werewolf.

Warrior's giant's blood passive is actually 3x str requirement to wield rather than 2x. Which means you'll be relying on increased str perks and str passives neglecting dexterity, causing your to rely on accuracy perks too if you want single target attacks such as boneshatter.
