At least 24 people have been killed in Los Angeles as wildfires continue to ravage the region. Nearly 40,000 acres have burned, and tens of thousands of people are now scrambling to find shelter, exacerbating a housing crisis. The expected return of gusty Santa Ana winds threatens to reverse the gains that firefighters had made in controlling the fires ravaging Los Angeles. The National Weather Service warned that these winds could lead to “explosive fire growth,” prompting rare, “particularly dangerous situation” red flag warnings for parts of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.
