Funny to me to come across this video. My setup up until last week was a 3600 with a 1660Super. Upgraded to a 3060 and was not happy with the results. Barely any better than the 1660S. Changed it at the store for a 3060TI and is is much better, BUT now the cpu is bottle-necking and i have really bad 1% lows and a lot of frame stuttering. Swapped out the 3600 for a 5600X and the pc is flying high now. The difference was insane. Some results at 1080p on RDR2 as an example: 3600+1660S at medium graphics settings running about 55-60fps and very stable, very good budget combo imo. 3600+3060 at the high settings about 60-65fps with terrible 1% lows. 3600+3060TI at a mix of high+ultra settings about 85-90fps (!) but with a lot of cpu bottle-necking and the occasional stuttering. 5600X+3060TI at ultra high settings with solid 95-100fps and as smooth as silk. No stutters, very high 1% lows, no bottle-necking, perfect. Summerized: go either 3600+1660Super or 5600X+3060(TI). Dont bother with anything in between...

Buy a decent CPU and you can pair with pretty much any GPU. Ryzen 5 3600 is a good CPU yet.

Should have actually put all the settings for BF and PUBG on low so those two games could show what difference a cpu makes as they are quite cpu demanding, whilst you could’ve had the others on max. Cause testing FPS games on max graphics is unrealistic, basically no one plays them on max.

The 3600 is still a perfectly suitable cpu if you own one . I wouldn’t recommend anyone to think about upgrading from it until the 7000 series comes out later this year. Even then it might be worth it to wait another year . Still a lot of life left in the 3600. I’m still using a 1700x oc to 4ghz. I’ll upgrade when I can buy a new gpu at the Same time as a cpu. The 1700x runs everything just fine still for me . 3000mhz ram with an rx 580

given the amd r5 3600 temp and overclock headroom, i would definitely choose 3060 ti & 3600 if the pc is majorly for gaming.

That is exactly why building the latest generation system these days is not worth nor the money nor the effort unless you have an absolutely top end end graphics card such as RTX 3090 or RX 6900 XT, especially if you're targeting 1440p or 4k resolution. A ryzen 3600 or intel 10400/11400 will do just fine with mid range cards like 2080, 2080ti, 3060, 3060ti, 3070, 3070ti or 6600, 6600xt, 6700xt and even rx 6800 non xt.

5600x is irrelevant now until 6600x releases. 12400 is the absolute best now.
