Post-Debunk Stream Thoughts (The Alt-Right Playbook: How to Radicalize a Normie) - Jody Bruchon

Some of my thoughts regarding my live debunking stream a few days ago. Ian Danskin (Innuendo Studios) released a video called "The Alt-Right Playbook: How to Radicalize a Normie" which I tore apart in a four-hour live stream, and this video contains my takeaways. In short, the video is full of projection, is based around a wild caricature, is loaded with implicit assertions that you're not supposed to question, and is completely lacking in logic, facts, and proof.

As someone who grew up in an alt-right space, not once in ians video did i think he was shaming those who are a part of the alt-right pipeline, rather extending compassion. i also noticed that in your video, you don't isolate any specific moments from ian's video which makes it difficult to pinpoint and realize your points. You have potentially very poignant critiques that just aren't fully realized by this format of video.

One thing I will agree with you on is that the left does encourage looking down on people with opposing views, but I can say that, just as it is on the right, there are groups that don’t encourage that behavior. The left and right have similar ways of convincing people in the way that emotional arguments are used to convince people and evidence, weather it’s true or not, is used to reaffirm those beliefs. Both sides have to use emotional appeal and evidence to keep their ideas alive. Due to the duality that was created, however, entertaining ideas from the other side is looked down upon. Now, what I don’t understand about you is that you claim to have no bias, despite obviously agreeing with the right. You call yourself a logical person, and you claim to be a moderate. Now it just so happens that you think the right is more evidence biased and more moderates lean right. See how I used deductions to reach that conclusion? Anyhow, this would fit my previous statement that both sides detest entertaining the others ideas, because your argument boils down to “no u”. I could take your script, switch your use of left and right, and I could make the same argument. Now can you prove me wrong using your logic to prove your point? Tell me what assumptions you find to be wrong, show me the left gaslighting people, support your claims. You’re making this argument, not the alt-right play book. Show me the right using logic.

Hey Jody, ot sure youre gonna read this or if you remember this video, but I would love to discuss the points you make in this video.
I am a fan of both Innuendo studios and out of all channels that reacted to him, you are the most coherent and while I get where youre coming from, I would like to hear your ideas expressed further.

As if you present any better evidence than him

Evidence should be used regardless of political orientation and Innuendo Studios linking peer-reviewed studies in the description seems more solid to me than you just saying "he gives statements full of implications that the audience is supposed to accept" like what fucking statement? Get to the fucking point and say what you mean with that instead of WeLL iTs just NoT veRy accUraTe

Ian said himself that some left oriented groups are starting to use these tactics (and that was a few years ago). He said in the introduction that he wanted to make a video on how to stop oneself from doing that. You critisice him for marginalizing and polarising but then claim that he must be fully onboard with everything any viewer does which is frankly a bit fucking stupid.

"have you looked at the right wing to see if it applies to their side" It's not like he mentions these websites with their name or read books from people who were part of the right wing extremist movements. Innuendo also made a point about differentiating between what he calls the alt right and general conservatism/republicans. What he says might not apply to you because he talks about a small group that has a huge influence.

The part about people just believing him without any questioning is completely on point. Youtube algorithms and the internet in general are pushing viewers towards what they like and what tells them "your opinion is right and valid and heres why you should double down on it". I know I might use sarcasm a lot but I think this is genuinly a problem on the both sides. Extremism is something both groups have in common and I don't want to downplay left wing terror, but you make some bad points.

"boils it down to indoctrination" yes because the longest video in his series is boiled down and not detailed enough

Evidence is scarce in some cases on left-wing youtube because for example evidence for harrassment is often based on experience. Not everything goes through the internet and most evidence is given to the police rather than strangers or the public. Have you ever seen any politician publicize a scan of the death threats they get in the mail with as solid evidence and not just "they said they would"?

So one of your arguments is that because he is part of a group that doesn't present evidence often, he does not have evidence, which is both wrong and so fucking dumb. Your white and overweight and you don't see me calling you a right wing terrorist because fitting the bill doesn't mean you pay it, and what you say is just making a calm argument and not calling to arms or some shit

"Left channels tell you: If you believe this way you are stupid" Isn't this essentially the same you're trying to say about Innuendo Studios? It doesn't hold it up when the same thing can be applied to yourself.

"logic on the right, feelings on the left" you got this by making examples but you can't just use a few people on one plattform on the internet to define a very big and nuanced group. You might have a point about Innuendo Studios not knowing what the right is, but I think neither do you know what the left is.

My main talking point is just that I see you making points I can't get behind because apart from making these points and telling me how good they are you never actually say "Innuendo studios said 'quote' and here is reason x why this is wrong". Please do clearify what you mean, but not just make more arguments and reasons on why you are oh so right but instead go back on the points you made in the video and explain them.

so basically we should just call the channel “begging the question studios”?

Well done man. A shame people would rather dislike and move on than listen.

Someone left this comment just now, but it inexplicably vanished: "The video feels like that one Bismarck quote. “I have mastered the art of using many words to say nothing at all.”. It’s ironic that he uses the exact same strategies that he disavows. Hell he even defends Bill Clinton by saying he’s not as bad as Donald Trump. "
