Estimation of inspiratory effort with PEI (Pmusc/EAdi index)

In this video we show how to estimate patient's inspiratory effort from EAdi without esophageal pressure. To do so we use an index (termed Pmusc/Eadi index) which relates the pressure generated by the respiratory muscles (Pmusc) to the electrical activity of the diaphragm (EAdi), during assisted mechanical ventilation.
