Here's what I'm putting my money on. He's not allowed to own a car anymore, for whatever reason. His workaround is that he finds some ignorant or too-trusting individual who is selling an old beater for peanuts, "kitchen-table-buys" it from them, drives it for six months to almost a year until the sticker is about to expire, then unloads it on someone else (signing the previous owner's name on the title) and goes back to Craigslist to find his next ride.

What he did is called "jumping title" and it's a felony in almost all states. Legally he didn't own the car b/c he never put it in his name.

So he neither registered or insured the car. His plan was to skate on the registration fees until the renewal was up, and ride around uninsured.

I don't like the defendant much either. It's clear she registered the car in her name in order to steal it.

It happens way too often that the buyer does not register the title in their name. This is why it used to be customary in my area for both seller and buyer to go to the DMV together and register that puppy in the buyers name once and for all.

Over the years I've sold numerous cars and motorcycles. When I sell them they don't leave my yard until I go with the purchaser and we change the title into his/her name, and they register it and get new plates. I don't care if you've signed the back of the title over to them, until their name is officially on the title, you're responsible for anything that happens with that car.

The Defendant pulled a fast one, but the Plaintiff set her up to do it. Should have done the right thing and registered the car when he bought it. The only thing he's right about, is that most people neglect to take the plates off their car when they sell it. They're supposed to, but most don't.

when you sell your car make sure of contacting DMV and submit Notice of Transfer, and Release of Liability ASAP to save yourself from goons like the plaintiff

Am I the only one who kinda doesn't like either the Plaintiff or Defendant, I feel like they were both wrong.
