THANK YOU for your attention to the terrible Sixties Scoop and Missing and Indigenous Murdered Women. It is only through art and artists that we'll preserve truth while politicians serve their own hubris.

As a Native American descendant, I recognized the red handprint right away

Although Uma Gahd probably comes off a bit church-campy to Americans, she is such a representation of Montreal art. Quebecois culture is deeply rooted in French catholicism, all our curse words are literally just French church terms. Uma Gahd's campy religious character pokes fun at that in her jokes and her looks, while also flipping the religious context we're used to by making it loving and accepting. I can totally see how it could seem cheesy, but with the cultural context, her verse was so funny and clever! I hope she gets to talk about it more!

I live in montreal and I've seen Uma Gahd perform quite a few times. She is super campy, an EXCELLENT host and her humor is very... wink wink nudge nudge for lack of a better term. She preaches positivity, self love and open expression of queerness and, of course I don't know her personally, but she doesn't come across as religious in a way that super integral to her drag. The character of Uma's "religion" is more about the aforementioned positivity, self love and open expression of queerness, using herself as kind of a vessel for that in a comedic way. She does a lot of spoof shows often poking fun at pieces of media that involve religion or god, using "Gahd" as a stand in. Not to mention that Quebec has a lot of history with the Catholic chruch, even our swear words are related to the church, tabernak. I recommend checking out her instagram to find out more about her because she is again, excellent.

Just a note, there are lots of missing and murdered indeed women right here in the U.S as well and theres hardly any attention paid to the issue. Thank you Bussy and Jaylene!

I love that Canada’s DR always innovates with new challenges, the golden beaver, the hole, rose buds, etc… vs. just replicating the US franchise. Naturally not everything will work, but I find the creativity refreshing among the sea of so many DR franchises.

Bussy, thank you so much for really doing your research and bringing this really dark and important part of Canadian history to a new audience. Our government still refuses to put the same resources into finding missing indigenous women as they do for others. It's terrible

Canadian fan of your channel here! Thank you SO much for learning about the 60s scoop/other indigenous history, and putting it in your video <3

We are BARELY taught about it in school. It gets better every year obviously, but most people only do one brief unit in grade 9 geography class. Not even in history class!!

If you want to know your history as a Canadian, most times you learn by seeking it out. So thank you so so much for informing your audience and providing resources to more information. It means a lot❤️🍁

Just looking at the title ... can I share that about 8 years ago I went through a very very dark depression that totally incapacitated me. That's when I discovered Drag Race. I watched seasons back to back all day long, craving the beauty, the silliness, the frivolity of it all. I even rewatched some seasons. I truly believe this pulled me out of the darkest time of my life.

I won't speak for Miss Gahd, but she is my local queen and I've been going to her shows for years and I adore her! Her gimmick is less about religion and more camp. She has a one-woman show called, "Are You There Margaret? It's Me, Gahd, " which is just hilarious and campy and pays homage to the kind of women in her life that are like the aunties at church. Her entire schtick is all about positivity, and in fact, at the screening party for this week's episode, she said the line "your blessings are protected" is more about safeguarding your happiness, blocking the haters, embracing the love in your life. She's just a beam of light and I'm so excited to see her on this season, and I hope others learn what she's all about! xoxo

403 to 416 is Calgary (or Southern/Central Alberta) to Toronto.
for me it was a nice nod to hear as I'm a 403 and we have no other Prairie Queens on the season this year!

Thank you for taking a moment in your video to model learning about the issues Jaylene Tyme brought to the mainstage.
through schools, relocation, removal from homes, exterminating the buffalo, and the current crisis with Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Two Spirit, forced sterilization, making illegal, Canada's "First Nations/Metis/Inuit" Peoples have a lot to say about the colonial project of "Canada".
You modeled how to learn about someone elses systematic oppression without making yourself the victim or getting defensive or denying them- research, listen, empathy.
I recommend people watch a few videos about this history, have a cry.

Hey! I just wanted to say that I saw a lot of videos on YT that I didn’t watch before your’s about Lala’s retirement. I waited for your video because I didn’t know if there was much “drama” involved. Thankfully drama was minimal, but it made me think about what I really appreciate about your content specifically in the drag race YouTube scene. You are so kind and considerate to everyone you talk about. You acknowledge their experience while standing firm in what morals you think might be broken by any given subject. This isn’t to say that other channels don’t do this, but you do it every time in a beautifully nuanced way. The drag race fandom and queer art spaces in general are riddled with drama, cattiness, and a lot of bullying for things people can’t control. This in its purest sense is part of our gay culture, and I think you capture that sweet spot perfectly! I love a little cattiness, but I don’t want my entire understanding of a queer person’s experience to be based in cattiness. Does that make sense? I just love your content and want you to know how special your videos are! I love watching every new bussy queen episode, and I can’t wait for what’s next!

Yes Bussy, use that platform! I appreciate you bringing awareness to the missing indigenous woman in Canada. It’s certainly not an issue exclusive to Canada, and everyone should educate themselves on this dark history. Thank you!!!

I know Bussy is probably not going to see this comment, and I'm going to make it directed to Bussy anyway. Kudos to you. I knew about the red handprint, and I knew about the taking of Indigenous children away from their parents, but I did not know that it was called the 60s Scoop. First, to admit that you didn't know about these points in Canadian history, and second, to educate your audience on what it all meant was outstanding. This is the way we become allies to those who have been through situations like these, and I commend you. You didn't have to say you didn't know, and you did. That takes guts in this era of idiots on the internet. Again, kudos to you for being so honest and willing to learn and share.
