Boss, I think you have to consider the heat load of the compressor in the equation which is approximately 25% of the chiller load or 3, 000 BTU/Hr. so that makes 12, 000 btu/hr + 3, 000 btu/hr = 15, 000 btu/hr. Therefore cooling tower capacity = Chiller Cooling load + Heat produced by the compressor = (Delta T X Q)/30. Cooling tower Tons (CT capacity) is different from Refrigeration Tons (Chiller capacity) because of the heat produced by the chiller compressor.
