The disruptive audience member’s reaction to Omer Bartov’s talk is a distressing element of this recording. From the protesting guest’s point of view it may not have been meant as expression of threat of harm to participants. There’s no way someone merely viewing the recording, here, can assess that private intent, of course. But in context of this dialogue and history, some implication of threat, of an environment of diminished safety for participants, is hard to avoid hearing.

Such individual displays are impossible to prevent entirely, no doubt. I’d hope that measures like restriction of guests’ further access to Center programs are available to administrators and are applied in cases like this.
