I thought it was because he expected Sidious to step in as they were going to try and turn Anakin to the dark. Learn something new everyday

Dooku's downfall was he had the high ground but jumped down to fight Anakin and OB1. Game over.

Most Star Wars fans didn’t realize that Count Dooku was 80 years old when he fought both Anakin and Obi-Wan on The Invisible 🫥 Hand. The Dark Side of the Force slowly and painfully degrades the body because of the intense power it provides.

Dooku was even older than Sidious. Though not as powerful as Sidious, still very powerful in the Dark Side.

Anakin though not as powerful was reaching his potential despite losing an arm to Dooku. Plus he tinkered with his cybernetic arm to give him added strength combined with The Force and threw Dooku off balance.

I always figured part of why Dooku lost was partially because he never sank as deep into the Dark Side while Palpatine, Maul and Vader absolutely reveled in it. He simply wasn't willing to tap enough into darkness to get the power needed to counter Anakin's aggression in combat.
And we all know what came next.

I'd always imagined Palpatine, always intending to trade up to Anakin, had a hand in the detrimental effects that Dooku was experiencing as he was a master of manipulation, many abilities we never got to explore in Canon

I mean he didn’t seem very weak, he literally knocked Obi-Wan out of the fight and held his own for a bit against a powerful and experienced Anakin. I feel like Dooku doesn’t get enough respect overall

Then why the hell is Palpatine so powerful when he's a pensioneer with a cane and not being degraded by the dark side to the point where he's like Dooku and worse?

AGE takes us all. A battle of those two both in thier prime would of been a interesting what if battle.

Dooku isn't aggressive enough to be sith. He doesn't particularly assert distant or hatred, more apparent in Tales of the Jedi.

I think he aligned with Sith ideology but at heart was not a true sith. Able to wield the dark side through his wisdom and focus but not true enough to harness it

Don’t forget that Obi Wan and Anakin grew much stronger than they’re were in Episode II and while Dooku did improve his skills his age would have slowed him down a bit

Here’s a question. Why didn’t Dooku’s eyes glow yellow like literally every other syth in the old movies, and the prequels.

Yeah, Palpatine was SUPPOSED to stop Anakin. That fight was going to be the tipping point for him to fall to the darkside. Obi-wan was to die and that would push Anakin over the edge. Theyd work together to stop the Separatist and the Empire would be born "as soon as the Jedi died"

Oh yeah and he hated cybernetics too! His last thoughts before being decapitated was having metal hooks because he couldn't bring himself to have evil robot hands. He wasn't thinking "Hey I just got boned by my master". Somewhere in the distance the robot devil exhales a sigh of relief. Having had human hands that would "touch me in places".

Yet these dark side effects never seemed to damage or weaken Sidious

anakin was overpowering him a bit in Revenge of the sith, at that time anakin Skywalker was younger than Dooku when he was still in the Jedi republic alongside his friend Obi wan and they had get the Councilor quickly out of the ship while they didn't know it was Palpatine🦹🦹.
