The Voices Behind Arcane Characters

Arcane is one of the best adaptations of a video game we’ve ever seen. Part of that success came from the fantastic group of actors that were hired on. They all come from such different backgrounds, too. Hailee Steinfeld, known for Hawkeye and her amazing singing voice combed through Reddit forums to learn more about her character Vi. She and Ella never once worked together. Ella Purnell, who voiced Jinx had never done voice acting before and put on an accent for the role and also refused to look at anything online. Katie Leung, probably best known for her portrayal of Cho Chang in the Harry Potter Series also had to do an accent. The hype of the IP stopped her from looking online too much. Mia Sinclaire Jenness who played the young Powder gave a performance that brought people to tears. Mick Wingert’s dynamic performance is what landed him the role of Heimerdinger because they were super hesitant to even include the character in the show. Kevin Alejandro, known for his role in Lucifer, took the role of Jayce seriously thanks to his thirteen year old son. Harry Lloyd, known for playing Daenerys Targaryen’s cruel brother in Game of Thrones, loved the reverse process he got to do for his character Viktor. JB BLanc came straight from the League of Legends video game as he voiced Braum but for the show he voiced Vander. Silco doesn’t exist in the video game so Jason Spisak enjoyed the mysterious element to his character. Creators Alex Yee and Christian Linke not only encouraged improv but also wanted the actors to add their own special touch to their characters. And of course, Imagine Dragons and J.I.D. blew our minds with that song Enemy. All that and more in the video!

they nailed it on the jinx voice actress, thats crazy it took them 3 years to find but thank god because i cant imagine any other voice doing that like it was done. it just feels so natural watching it. also it helps the script was absolutely fantastic well done by the creators

This show is one of the best cartoon series that i have watched this year! I'm really looking forward to season 2!

There are so many things that makes this an amazing show like animation and visuals are beautiful, from the cities to the characters. What I especially enjoyed was how expressive the characters are. Many shows rely on speaking information outload to get it across to the audience- Arcane doesn't do that. It can communicate everything it needs to through it's characters facial expressions and their body language thought scenes.

The action is enjoyable, it never felt over the top or boring. The action is pretty unique for each fighting scene and always hits the right note

Jinx's coat tho at 1:41. I know it's concept art and all, but imagine if she were to be willingly exiled from Piltover and just ran away to find new meaning and purpose in life while roaming Runeterra. And the creators decided to put on her that coat. Smells like a great way to write a good redemption arc for her in case they decide to turn her into a central character in every upcoming season.

I love Vanders character, JB Blanc did SUCH a good job, i felt the real care and love in his voice even in the tough scenes, they chose good, i cant wait for season 2 🤩

I got to meet both JB Blanc, Ekko's voic actor, and Silco this past fall when they came to my city for comic con and got to sit in the Arcane panel to get inside scoops behind the scenes of season 1. And one tibit I learned in that Arcane panel, is Jason Spisak said that in order for him to find Silco's angle and doing his voice, which I now see when I rewatch season 1. He channels his voice like smoke that fills the room and manipulates those around him as influences.
