Inside U.S. Coast Guard Boot Camp

We took a trip to Cape May, New Jersey, to visit the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center where we had the opportunity to learn about the intense 8-week training program and gain an inside look at the life of Coast Guard recruits. As soon as we arrived, I was instantly thrown into the mix. From the moment I stepped onto the bus, I was introduced to the commanding officer, participated in training drills, toured the facilities, and took part in numerous other activities. I was truly impressed by the recruits' determination to succeed throughout boot camp. The commanding officer and company commanders pushed them to their limits, but for good reason. At graduation, I had the privilege of witnessing some of the most intelligent, strong, and proud young men and women, now ready to serve as active members of the United States Coast Guard.

This is honestly the best video on CG Bootcamp I’ve ever seen. No corny music or fast cuts, just long clips that really let the chaos come through. Well done.

I operate the drawbridge between Cape May and the Crest. Always gives my body a little chill hearing the recruits singing cadence from across the bay. And brings back all the 'fond' memories from my Marine Corps boot camp. Semper Fi and Semper Paratus.

As a Coast Guard veteran I've been watching videos about Coast Guard boot camp with interest for several years. In this newest video I can see a definite and very positive change in the training approach that now appears to be focused more on helping and wanting the recruits to succeed, rather than harassing and torturing them and trying to see how many recruits could be destroyed and caused to be reverted or fail in order to feed the Company Commanders’ egos. Company Commanders used to seem to revel in their washout and failure rates. Now they celebrate their success rates. That’s a big deal that cannot be overstated. This sea change is an extremely positive change for the future of the Coast Guard. Kudos, congratulations and respect to the newest leadership, the base Commander and the Company Commanders and the rest of the team at Training Center Cape May. Well done! Semper Paratus.

My company Delta-206 was in the background watching the group get off the bus in the beginning. It was surreal, seeing how that was us 7 weeks earlier. Damn proud our graduation was also shown! Great group of folks to graduate with!

Just remember the words on the front of Sexton Hall when you get off the bus. You already took the step most don't take. You'll get through it!

Graduated with Juliett-206. This an amazing decision and awesome opportunity. To anyone preparing for boot camp: do not be afraid. It is hard, but it makes you into such a better person. Be fast. Be loud. You got this!

I formed with Hotel-206, I was supposed to graduate December 23rd, 2024. I am now in the fleet, graduated on January 31st, 2025, with Kilo-206.

Although it took me much longer than it was supposed to, every little second was so worth it, and it turned me into the man I am today. I could not be more happy for this experience.

For anybody thinking about going into the coast guard, do yourself a favor and do it. It’s the best thing you could ever do.

that intro from the Coast Guard instructors almost mirrors the DI's introduction in the Marine Corp.

Aside from the bus. The welcome is actually pretty on par with USMC.

Good ole Clegg at the beginning. I understand why they don’t want him in too many videos because he is a literal mad man. But definitely the best cc there.

The flashbacks are kicking in 😂 - absolutely the best inside look, way better than Insider Edition. I will be using this as a reference to anyone who asks “what should I expect?” or “what was your training like?” So as a Coastie, THANK YOU for sharing
