We have loads of basking sharks here in Ireland. They were once hunted for their oil rich livers and meat particularly in Co Mayo. The Irish for basking shark is liamhán gréine which literally translates to sun shark. They are also known as a Cearbhán also. They breach alot here.
Ireland is a great place to see these amazing sharks. Best places are counties Mayo, Donegal and Cork
